Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. They are, however, not entitled to their own set of facts.
The WBF is one of the most popular and visited audio forums out there, judging by pretty much any parameter. With such, there are a plethora of things that come along with that kind of responsibility. Controlling spammers, hackers and what not, then there are the considerable financial aspects that you may not have considered for such a forum. I don't know how many significant server upgrades we have had over the years, but some of them were expensive. Very expensive. We have grown so much, that yet another one may in order again. This does not come to the owners of WBF for free. Nor do the seemingly endless IT aspects, keeping things rolling smooth and figuring out the slowdowns, glitches, attacks, backups, issues, etc..
So, with gain, comes pain. It was introduced years ago for members to contribute, but that alone didn't cut it when it came to growth. We didn't want to become like AG, so we launched an advertising program. This coincides with a dedicated sub-forum and other perks that non-advertisers do not get, nor are privy too. Those manufacturers, distributors and dealers have the OPTION to advertise their products in detail and use the WBF to assist in sales or promote their wares.
That said, if you want to continue bashing the WBF here, so be it. But at least know what's going on first, before spouting falsehoods and spreading things that are simply not true.
Case in point to those who think that this may be unfair - Please allow me to ask of you this;
If you ran and owned a magazine, would you run an ad for a dealer, manufacturer or distributor for absolutely no cost? I know the answer, so if this is the case, why is the WBF being singled out on this? I find it ingenuine.
