Loving the stuff I’m hearing since I grabbed a D2 from Mike. Power is coming from a Shunyata Venom PC (plugged into an APC H15) and signal is sent through a Shunyata Venom XLR out to my MA252. Great detail throughout dynamic range (loving the sparkle up top). Well recorded material on Tidal sounds great, especially MQA.

Super easy to setup and excellent fit and finish (as well as packaging from LUMIN).

I’ve left the main power switch on since setting it up and toggled on the 15 minute auto sleep setting.

More insight on the sound as it breaks in. Here are some pics of the D2 as it sits now:

Thanks again for everything, Mike!

I’m loving everything the D2 is laying down. What is your prescribed control method for LUMIN players? I’m running their (LUMIN’s) own app from my iPhone to play music from my saved Tidal playlists which I setup using the Tidal app. I know the iPad is what LUMIN recommends (over the iPhone) so I’ll probably pick up a new one of those soon; but is there a big benefit outside of ease of use?

What about Roon?

My CD collection is less than 200 and I don’t own much digital music (and what I do own isn’t high resolution) so a NAS probably isn’t in my immediate future.

On an iPad you can see everything on one screen, as opposed to swiping back and forth from your library to the play queue to the album cover.

I prefer Roon. But the Lumin app is very nice too. As Rance said everything on one screen.

Thanks gents. I think I’ll do an iPad soon. Once I do, maybe I’ll check out the Roon trial.

Glad you're enjoying LUMIN D2 Sean.

Just note that Roon is a bit of a different beast compared to a normal control point. It requires a fast PC or very fast NAS to run the Roon Core which then serves the music to LUMIN.

BTW - I still find the LUMIN App runs great on my mk3 iPad (the first with the retina screen), so you could always pick up a s/h iPad to try.

Thank you for the helpful info; it sounds like Roon might be a great solution for a problem I don’t necessarily have, right now.

Good to know about the iPad, I’ll have to look into those.

Note that for Roon, the iPad has to run iOS 11. Some of the outdated iPad models do not fit this requirement.

For Lumin app, iPhone and iPad should have the same functionality. The benefit of iPad comes from the larger screen estate for album art viewing, and no need to swipe between the playlist view and the album view.

Peter, thanks so much for the information you provided here and everywhere else on the forum regarding LUMIN products. It’s so great to have you supporting us here after the sale - much appreciated.

A quick check-in, I’m loving so much of what the Mac integrated is giving me, even with my HT-level loudspeakers. That credit has to undoubtedly be shared with the Lumin. Such great balance between detail and smoothness. Not the final word in either category but the magic, for me, has to be in its balance. Definition at both ends of the spectrum but no harshness at all.

The little bit I’ve tried the TuneIn internet radio function it hasn’t matched the performance level of Tidal, unfortunately. I suppose much can’t be expected with compressed internet radio to begin with. A chunk of the stations also aren’t available/compatible through the app. AirPlay isn’t something to write home about either - I’m sure a large part (or all) of that is the AirPlay feature in general; I haven’t read much about people being happy with it, on any device (streamer, wireless speaker, etc.). I only resort to utilizing AirPlay when I want to listen to an audiobook or podcast so fidelity isn’t required.

I’ll check back in as I continue to log in more hours on the D2.

Just received my D2 this afternoon. I like it a lot so far. I'm not sure yet if I prefer Roon or the Lumin app. Roon is pretty deep and I'm still learning how to use it. I do have a bunch of Sonos zones and Roon will let me stream through them also. The only issue I have with Roon is it must always be running on a computer.

On another note, my current pre does not have balanced inputs but I have upgraded to a Moon 740P which should be delivered this week. I'm looking forward to connecting the D2 using the balanced outs.

Welcome aboard!

Let us know what you think of the D2 as you log in some time with it. Would also love to hear what surrounds it in your system. Even better, feel free to post pics once you hit the appropriate amount of posts.
