Guys - you REALLY need to know what you are doing when buying vintage tubes or tube testers.

Example I found perusing Ebay tonight:

Many people feel the TV-7 military tester (rightly or wrongly) is among the Holy Grail of testers (I love mine but know there are testers that are technically 'better').

They had different revisions with the original /U version, then the A/U, B/U, C/U, D/U with the most desirable being the B/U and D/U versions (I have two B/U units).

Check out this listing on Ebay identifying it as a D/U version AND THE FAKE TAG ON THE UNIT CALLING IT A D/U version to get more money in the auction.

IT IS NOT A D/U UNIT AND IS IN FACT THE LOWLY ORIGINAL /U VERSION THAT FEW PEOPLE WANT.

Tell tail signs:

- The giant dials are only on the original version
- The meter says in tiny letters /U instead of D/U
- And the overall layout of grommets and such on the tester itself.

You can buy the ID tags for $10 on ebay and simply change them out and will likely net you hundreds more on the sale of a fake D/U unit.

If you're trying to buy gear for yourself, PLEASE do your research first.
