Maybe you can teach him how to do that. Continue updating the country about covid-19 everyday, but at the same time avoid answering or commenting on whether and when the country should be reopen.

It’s an impossible thing to do.

Am I surprised when some people break the rules? Let's see I was a LEO for the greater part of my life putting lawbreakers in jail. So, no I'm not surprised. But just because some people run over other people with cars doesn't mean we should ban all cars. Just because someone bashes a person in the head with a hammer doesn't mean we should ban all hammers. No, there is a more sensible solution - put the law breakers in jail, et. al.

PS: There are different internet buffets on the WWW. Some allow politics. Those that are hungry to express such views can eat elsewhere.

I believe that are two different things.

You do that by saying. " I will defer that question to the people that make those decisions".

Are you saying Dr Fauci has never been in that position in his professional life?

Well, you are wrong. You can’t say one thing and not address the other.

On the contrary, someone should be saying “I will defer that question to the people that are expert on infectious diseases”.

So then you’re suggesting that he should become The controller of the economy and when it starts again. I don’t believe that’s his background either.

mep no one is sugar coating anything. I’m not aware of anyone who has said there haven't been any political posts. Even in my post you quoted below I used the phrase “many illustrations” meaning that all the posts weren’t following the rules. And I also quoted the rules. I also said I wasn’t surprised when people broke the rules. …

Moreover, on March 22, 2020, 08:06 AM in post #228 I attempted to bring things back into alignment with the rules. On March 22, 2020, 04:40 PM in post #237 Mike said not to discuss politics. Again, on March 30, 2020, 04:16 PM in post #337 Mike repeated his admonition. And on April 14 at 11:20 AM in post #439 I made another appeal for the same. (forgive me if I have a date or post number wrong)

So, no one is saying there haven’t been any political posts. Many of us – including you in various places – actually stated the exact opposite! And I can assure you that Mike and the other moderators are watching this thread closely – as we discussed it early on in March sometime …

This said, there are still some valuable and helpful insights on this thread. Is it perfect – not at all. But we can still learn and help one another. Also, we just need a place to unwind and talk about this stuff. It’s pretty scary for some of us with underlying health conditions. It helps to have an outlet.

Respectfully, mep – and I mean no ill will by this at all – if you have a problem with this thread than just don’t visit or post in it. But if you have something of value to add to the COVID-19 discussion I’m sure many – including myself – would enjoy reading it.

Yes, PLEASE no politics. I really don’t want to have to close this thread down. I am hoping we can stick with the science and technology and hopefully help us all learn the best ways to stay safe.

Good news conference tonight at the White House. There is at least a plan in print as to how states can re-open under the direction of the Governor.
 
This looks promising, not a vaccine, but it appears to be a fairly substantial treatment. 125 COVID patients, with 113 of those being severe. “The best news is that most of our patients have already been discharged, which is great. We’ve only had two patients perish.” But even two are too many to lose.

They are doing research world-wide ... Gilead’s severe Covid-19 study includes 2,400 participants from 152 different clinical trial sites all over the world. Its moderate Covid-19 study includes 1,600 patients in 169 different centers, also all over the world.

Khin, let me explain. That “plan” by people not in charge, made for people actually in charge (who already ignored it by extending social distancing measures), is an addendum to the “plan” let’s all congregate in churches on Easter.

But hey, what’s there to worry, America is leading the world (...in number of Covid 19 new infections, total infections and fatalities, that is).

No widespread testing, still not enough PPEs, no viable treatment or vaccine. But hey, who cares, let’s re-open it, pockets are hurting. The truth of the matter is with covid-19’s ultra sonic infection rate and mortality rate in a no holds barred society, there will be little economy left to speak of.
