Mike-Energy is always going to go somewhere. A stand will not cause energy to stay within a component. Good stands help isolate components from external energy and help dissipate energy from the components place on the shelves.
Yep.
And I agree that wood (in significant quantity) works well. The key is mass for isolation...lots of it. The cellulose structure is maintained when air dried and that helps with natural absorption of component energy.
There are a lot of other good designs though. My wife actually has a very nice one but she won't let me put my system on it.
