I start this by saying, I know nothing about classical music.
I wanted to purchase a couple easy to find classical albums.
Something with lots of instruments
Most importantly a big huge soundstage, and of course a quality recording. Like to be able to find it new 180g vinyl
And it needs to move and be upbeat. The slow stuff kills me.
Seems everytime I buy a classical album it sucks! Or the microphones sounds like they're a mile away. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Nelson ill look for them.
I need to work on my vinyl collection. Make a couple online buys and a couple trips out to the record exchange.

I know little about classical music except that I have my favorite composers and the style I like. I favor the full symphony/orchestra over solo piano or chamber.
Perhaps you could decide what composers you favor by listening before buying. Pandora, MOG or whatever you favor are your friends. Then I would suggest used box sets if you can. The good thing is that generally used classical albums, single or box sets, etc are in VG+ to pristine condition. You can pick them up used and run them over with a little one-step cleaner and bob's your uncle.
