Chops' Current System Pics ....

Well this setup has to be better, the cat is in the room!

At any given time, there's at least one cat in the room with me. Sometimes, all five are in the room at the same time, but then it's almost like an anechoic chamber in here. LOL

Hehe... there is usually one with me when I am listening.... Five, holy cow... I thought we were bad with a third one on the way... she was just born and we have to start getting the house ready for a new little one. Really excited about this one....

At one point, we had seven kitties. That was when we were still living in the apartment. In fact, the complex only allowed you three pets, we had 7, and only registered one of them with the complex. They wanted a $350 deposit for the first one and $250 for each additional one, hence why I we only let them know about the one.

Makes me remember why I absolutely hate apartments so much. Never again. And don't get me started on the extremely poor parking issues at that place...

My wife is nervous about the third one coming; she would loose her mind with 5 or 7 :P. She thinks that one of our current ones might have an issue with her.... I think it will be fine...

The old one (Kit) is the music listener... the younger one (Peanut, well he is like 7 now) gets into issues with the Kit because he tries to play too much and Kit wants nothing to do with it.

The new one was just born so we are excited to meet her... a little girl Bengal! So I think Peanut will have his hands full in his playful endeavors! Marliegh will run circles around him in just a few months :P.

Kit, Peanut and Marliegh... I really like those names. I'm sure once the kitten is around, Peanut will have his "paws" full. Marliegh will keep him occupied and hopefully not upset Kit so much.

Yea, we are hoping that. I think my wife picked Marleigh as her name spelling. I think I spelled it wrong up above. Looking forward to her. Supposed to be quite the bundle of energy :).

Well, some big changes coming soon.

We just closed on a house, so in a month or so, things are going to be stirred up a bit. We're excited about it as well as dreading it all at the same time. I don't think anyone likes moving, but it will be for the last time for an extremely long time!

Congratz Charles! Moving into a house of your own is always exciting.

I really hate moving, and the entire process of getting a new house. Cheryal and I sometimes talk about moving when I retire (2 years and 1 week as of today :) ), but the whole thought of going through that process again just makes me twitch. On the plus side, any place we go will cost a ton less than it does here... but there are pros and cons every place you go... here on the Central Coast we have maybe the most perfect weather on the planet :).

Your system is looking good... you have to use the speakers that you like the most in your budget. I too am trying a different speaker. I am trying to get smaller more room friendly speakers. Kind of sick of large unruly speakers :).

Charles I feel your pain with your upcoming move. I moved this past year but gained a much better listening space. Will this be the case at your new place? Good luck with the new transition.

Thank you. We're still packing and dealing with tons of paper work as usual, but we're getting closer.

Yes, I think the new room will be better. My current room is 11.5' x 15.5' with an 8' ceiling. The new room will be 13' x 21', again with an 8' ceiling. The only real issue that I will have to deal with is with the TV. The wall where the system will be, there's a rather larger window right in the middle of that wall, so I obviously won't be able to mount the TV up high like it is now. I'm going to have to have it on a stand of some sort, which stinks. I'm sure I'll figure it out one way or another.

Here's the system in our (new to us) home that we just purchased. I changed things up a bit with the system, pulling the Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2 amp out and bringing back these little NuPrime STA-9 amps. Also brought back the Polk Audio PSW-505 subs. It's hard to tell from the pics, but the main speakers are pulled 5' out from the wall, and they can come out further if need be. So far, so good, for only living in the house for a week.

Been playing with speaker/sub placement a lot more lately, as well as crossover and gain settings on the subs. The speakers front baffles are now just over 6 feet from the front wall, the subs are about an additional 8 inches further out than in these pictures. Tweaking width spacing and toe in about 1/4 inch intervals, this system is finally creating an extremely realistic, holographic sound stage with great depth, width and pretty decent height. With the right recordings, the speakers completely disappear as well as the subs.

I'm really enjoying the system in this new, larger room/house.

That's Charlie. She's my little music listening buddy. In fact, she's on the couch with me right now digging a new jazz album on Qobuz (Catch The Wind by Herb Alpert).

Glad your new room is working well. Congrats and enjoy!

Thanks, Mike! I'm glad this new room is working out as well. It's great to finally have a decent sized, solid room. There will definitely be acoustic room treatments for this room in the future.

I brought out my custom white quartz slabs that I had made several years back, and put them under the NuPrime amps. And of course, some of the kitties laying around enjoying the system with me.
