Hi
Do you notice any change in SQ after the new update?
After the new update I “feel” a slight decrease in the lower notes and I need to increase a little bit the volume in my preamp to reach the usual levels of sound in my system.
I have a fixed volume so the new Leedh feature is not enabled...
Besides the Leedh option, does Lumin made any change in the SQ on the new update?
I can’t define it very well but I think the SQ was changed a little bit, definitely not worse and maybe even better, but in my opinion is different... or is my imagination?
Someone else feel any difference?

Thanks
Gabriel

I have a Lumin A1 running Roon and did not notice any change in SQ with the 13.0 upgrade.

All outputs on the whole Lumin network player / transport product line can use Leedh Processing Volume.

For X1 and T2 additional optimization is done to the analog output.
Thank you Peter
Happy to know that is not my imagination and can still trust on my ears :celebrate008_2:
So, is my appreciation right?
Can you tell us the sonic changes you made?

Probably is related to the beta-test that unfortunately I couldn’t try... (my apologies)
I feel the “presentation of the sound” is different, perhaps a little less “impressive” and less digital and more “analogue” sound
But a little bit more lean
I will try a focused and more analytical listen to the new firmware

Thank you

Digital audio path optimization does not translate well into descriptive words for SQ. Let me know what you hear. (Originally I was going to report what some beta testers told me, but on second thought that would create expectation bias.)

As I wrote, didn't give it an "audiophile listening" yet
But the presentation of the sound feels different, with less "whistle and chime"(?)
Many people call it: less digital and more analogue sound
As you wrote, is not easy to put in words SQ changes or definitions, but definitely it can be heard

Will give it a session and report later

If there is any other X1/T2 owner around will be interesting to hear their experience with the new update

My X1 sounds better than ever with Firmware 13.0 (I've not yet heard Leedh Processing; I like my active preamp). Incidentally, I'm listening to Spotify - upsampled to DSD.

As Peter noted, it's hard to put into words. I'd characterize the difference as similar to what I hear when my system is first powered up (cold start) versus an hour later (after warmup). It sounds less "congested". More lifelike.

What are your further impressions?

Hard to define
And more difficult when I try to compare the sound now and the sound I remember...
You can’t go back and make an A/B test, so is my “memorized” and the actual sound I need to analyze.
Like I did when added the sBooster... Then the change was bigger, more and better bass and wider soundstage.
Now the change is present and noticeable but less marked.
In my impression the sound is more relaxed and less sparkly, that doesn’t says better or worse, is different. And I like it.
In my system the “sparkling and crispy sound” was also very good, maybe because the character of the Luxman - Karan sound with the Magico.
After several hours of listening I do like the new sound, it’s seems less digital. The highs are less highlighted and the sound more smooth.

I suppose the guys in Lumin had the time and opportunity to compare the 2 versions and opted to do the step forward and make the change.

I think I will continue to enjoy the T2 + sBooster for many years, it falls in the optimal sweet spot of sound/price that will be hard to beat. Bad for you Peter ;)

Kudos to Lumin for the constant update and support.

Gabriel

Within the Lumin app, enable and use Leedh digital volume processing at 90% to 100% and set volume to 100%, then use the volume control on the upper right side of the Lumin App and you will likely never go back. For details visit: LUMIN - Leedh Processing and the Leedh home page at: Leedh Processing | Digital Volume Control | France Works for Lumin transports (U1) and for transports with DACs like the X1, T2, etc.

Mike, does this rule not apply to this person?...

Yes and thank you for pointing it out. mgeso - please update your signature with your information.

With some DAC, some users reported better SQ with Leedh volume at 9x instead of 100 even if they keep using their preamp volume control. The most likely reason is that the DAC exhibits intersample overs (clipping). In this case, usually setting Leedh volume at 94 (i.e. -3dB) will sound better for some music.

I thought I was crazy, but a few times I noticed I liked the sound of Leedh volume somewhere between 80-95 more than 100. I thought either, "I'm imagining it", or "there's some odd interaction between amp and X1 I don't understand that causes this".
