Back in the day, my go to cables were Cardas Golden Reference. I don't know if those cables that I still have are compromised because of age or some other reason. They don't seem to compare to my current Kimber cables.

Are the current, higher end, Cardas cables still awesome, have they gotten noticeably better or as great as other manufacturers current top cables?

I still have a fond place in my heart for Cardas and would consider new if I could demo them. Do you have Cardas in your system? Which ones? Thoughts on the current state of Cardas cables?

A few years ago I had Cardas GR in my system but then Audience Au24SE beat them out (transparency and spacial cues). Then JENA Labs nudged out Audience. Now I have standardized on Cardas Clear and Clear Beyond. Brings a sense of ease with total information delivered nonencumbered.

Thank you Darrin. It must be great if that's your cable, I'll check it out.

I have the clear speaker cable and Ayre made by cardas good cable . Their are too many cables to try them all and what works with what too many variables . Cardas is a solid company at lest read their web site they have a plan and direction I have never needed Kool aid to make them sound good, are they the best that means a lot of different things to most people.

As to your question do their new cables sound better than their older designs I have not heard them all but I would say yes the new is much better

Hi Joe,

I owned Cardas Clear Light cables for several years before I moved to Kimber Select. The Clear Light are a really solid cable for the money but there was one shortcoming, the bass was somewhat puffy sounding. You need to go for the Clear or Clear Beyond with your system to get top notch transparency and tight bass. The Cardas sonic signature is sweet sounding treble, beautiful mid-range and tight and robust bass. The Clear and Clear beyond are more neutral than the lower models but still have these tendencies. Cardas puts some of the best connectors in the business on their cables.

The reason I went with the Kimber Select is they have tight but less robust bass than the Clear or Clear Beyond. With the mid-bass bump on the the D3's, this helps to balance things out. You can demo all models with The Cable Company.

Best,
Ken

Thank you Ken, Garth,

I know cables are a personal choice and we really need to hear them in the intended system. I am sure some of you guys have gone crazy trying different cables, swapping in and out. It takes me a long time to fully realize what I like or don't like from different components/cables.
