Calling out Audiophile BS

I can't really argue too much about what he says. But audio dealers like Mike help us sort through some of the gear. Unfortunately, there aren't too many dealers like Mike.

I was just at a high end dealer with my son who was interested in a Chord Qutest DAC. My son told the salesman that he was also considering a Schiit Yggdrasil and the salesman went on a rant how Schiit gear really is crap and that they have had that DAC in their shop and how crappy it sounded. I wanted to walk out. We went there to learn about and hear the Chord DAC, not to be belittled.

I have walked out of car dealerships when they ask about what other cars I am considering and they start talking bad about their competition.

Since I am looking at speakers I have a local dealer that sells Marten. I reached out and asked when a good time to come and listen. ‘Crickets” About two weeks later I get a response saying he was available on certain upcoming dates. The next day I respond and say great I can come on any of these dates. “Crickets” I never received a response. Needless to say I will not be using his services. I think I should contact Marten and let them know of how this dealer operates.

On the other hand......Every email or call I have sent or called to Mike has been received and responded to the same day. Mike is the exception to the rule for audio dealers these days.

The two points I like that the guy in the video makes is Don’t be a know it all and think you are superior in knowledge and experience to everyone else AND Don’t make disparaging comments on a piece of equipment you have no first hand knowledge about.

The guy in the video is Sean. He was an original member here. I talked to him last year and he’s doing well. He was repping for a firm, but don’t think it worked out long term.

He makes some interesting points for sure.

Thanks for the kind words Marty.

I watch his videos occasionally but not a dedicated follower.

Mike please keep up the great work.
