just checking the website. It looks good. Atrium now only offers active crossover? is it digital or analogue? Can you talk more about this?

Thanks for checking out the new website! It took me a bit to write it.

The Atrium is now primarily offered as an active system. While an analog crossover remains technically possible, it is generally not my preferred solution. The reason is simple: with a system of this scale, proper time alignment becomes absolutely critical. An analog crossover can divide frequencies exceptionally well, but it cannot independently delay drivers. If the bass, midbass, midrange, and tweeter modules are not physically aligned in time at the listening position, performance is compromised.

To make an analog solution work correctly, you need a very large room and sufficient freedom to physically position all modules so that they are time-aligned. In practice, very few installations allow this. For that reason, my preferred approach is a digital crossover such as the Accuphase DF-75. This allows each driver section to be delayed independently, resulting in precise time alignment without requiring impractical speaker placement. In my experience, the benefits of achieving perfect time coherence far outweigh the theoretical disadvantages often associated with digital crossovers.

Ultimately, the goal is not whether the crossover is analog or digital. The goal is preserving the timing relationships of the original recording. When dealing with a loudspeaker system as large and capable as the Atrium, accurate time alignment is simply too important to ignore.

That said, for customers with a sufficiently large room and the ability to position the modules appropriately, we can still discuss an analog implementation on a case-by-case basis.

Cheers

using active crossover requires 4 stereo amplifiers. any recommendation of the brand of amplifiers? 4 stereo amplifiers are not cheap and require a lot of floorings. for example, 4 Gryphon stereo Apex will produce immense heat even cost is not a concern. there must be a compromise between power and size.
