Built for the love of music...

Thank you! Just returned home after a week away from the system during which there was a lot of work, time with my son (college age) and a tour of 5 outstanding audiophile systems. After all was said and done, when I hit play today despite having heard 5 systems that were all based on entirely different brands of SOTA gear, speakers and cables from the last year or so and over-built through the teeth in terms of room construction, overall cost, etc... going from 1x to 4x what I have in this system and all extremely impressive in their own regard, I am SO glad to get back home to this musical and sonic signature....

Thank you! What have you found superior with this and what are it's key features (versus Audirvana, iTunes,etc...)?

HQPlayer allows upsampling of any of your music. It can also convert your music to DSD. I am upsampling and converting everything to DSD512. It also allows you to use filters that are not available from most players.
It integrates with Roon seamlessly. You can continue to use Roon normally and HQP works in the background. You do need a computer to run HQP (you may use the same computer where you are running Roon).

I've just about had it with silence in the room after the R1s departed to a good friend's place, powered down components and speaker cables protruding from amps with nothing to connect to! Apologies for the bastardized quote but it's a favorite and resistance is futile....


By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes. Then rang the bells both loud and deep. Audio obsession is not dead nor doth it sleep!

Only have to wait 3 more weeks....Aargh!
 
I second the recommendation of HQPlayer. I have tried different players and absolutely love Roon interface. I thought it was the best... and then I tried HQPlayer as the playback engine and it took my system to an entirely new level! Roon and HQPlayer work absolutely perfect together. The best of both worlds... best interface, controller, and metadata around (Roon) married to the best playback engine available (HQPlayer). I upsample everything to 512/48... (24.6 MHz)... amazing indeed.

Soooo... are you getting new speakers or are you simply loaning the R1s?
