Bug Head, Any Users

Looks like you could be right Mechnutt. He's mentioning version 6.49 on his Facebook page. As usual though, the rest of the translation looses a lot in the translation.

6.49 is a keeper. Spent a good amount of time listening to a JAPRS reference recording of "Orfeu Negro" (Black Orpheus). This is a recording made in six different formats, PCM 48kHz/16bit, 96kHz/24bit, 192kHz/24bit, 384kHz/32bit(float), DSD 5.6MHz and DSD 11.2MHz and was made as a sort of reference to what one can expect from the different formats.

Bughead made these recordings shine like I've never heard before. Even in comparison with HQPlayer - the sound was just fabulous with more detail as the format resolution went higher. HQPlayer actually lost some composure with the DSD512 material while down sampling to DSD128 & PCM 352.8 which led me to try Bughead. I set output to PCM 352.8 kHz and it was not even close.

Regards.

Nikhil, great to hear you're enjoying 6.49. But 6.50 has come and gone. We now have 6.51. The more things change....

Cheers

Quite literally 6.49 is yesterday's news! Like I did earlier I'm going to sit out the next few iterations. Sometimes the latest updates are not always the best and I think some of the more recent releases would have been better served as betas rather than as full updates.

Regards.

Agree. 6.50 was replaced fairly quickly due to a reported lack of clarity. One confounding factor in the process is that apparently Hiroyuki is using headphones (at least his Facebook page suggests that is the case) whereas many (most?) of us are using speakers for critical listening. This may explain, in part, his apparent emphasis on bass in more recent versions.

Yes, 6.51 has a lot of bass and you can tune it. I still think it lacks some clarity as I installed it tonight. Sibilants are improved though. I am not sure how to run regenerateknight.

I start HRK after getting Bug head set to play music but JUST BEFORE pressing PLAY. I use a batch file directed to Hyperregenerateknight.exe in the Bug head folder. Or you can just go to the Bug head folder and open Hyperregenerateknight.exe. It runs in the background repeatedly every few seconds and you can check that it's on and operating in Task Manager.
