Bob Heil

If you’ve been to a live concert you’ve heard the seminal work of Bob Heil, one of the foremost live sound engineers ever to grace our world. He was instrumental in developing the Grateful Dead’s and The Who’s touring systems, among many many others. He invented the Heil Talk Box used by Peter Framptin, Joe Walsh and others. I met Bob through amateur radio, he was W9EID. His company makes a lot of different products for live sound and amateur radio. He will be missed.

I saw nothing of his death in the news, maybe I missed it. I'm not sure where he last lived but he was right across the river from me for a long time.
