They sure are gonna need it. The old distributor really did a number on the market here in the U.S. Wouldn't want to try and sell a devialet right now, new or used. There's no less than 10 for sale right now on audiogon. And at bargain prices. Mint units.

Not good....

Just took a look. There's a few 400's, one 800, one 120 and some older 250's. One or two are Euro sales. The reality is that a LOT more Devialet's were sold than say XYZ Integrated, so there are bound to be more for resale.

No matter what, it's still a great product with a plethora of very positive reviews behind it and personally, I love mine and use it every day.

What's the issue with the Devialet distributor/importer for those of us not ITK? Just curious...

Just saw some info that distributor was terminated and is now selling excess stock on Agon on the cheap. Got it.

My guess is yes since this is the importer who initially set up the dealer network in the US so basically underselling the dealers he signed up to carry Devialet but I will defer to Jax and/or Mike who prolly know the actual details.

You would be amazed at how often this happens globally...and I heard this from a famous brand's CEO directly.
SMDH. Its all a mad grab for more and more of the retail margin. Cutthroat, sometimes.

What is the big deal with this?

Does one expect the old distributor to keep all his stk if Devialet does not buy it back.

It will still be covered by warranty - or it should be.

That is between the new distributor and Devialet. Devialet would know approx how many amps had not been sold from warranty registration etc so they need to warrant any sales from the old disty with the new one.

that business when one gets ,moved along and another takes his place.

Should have zero effect on the customer. Whether in reality that is the case is to be seen.

Guys...guys...guys...the new distributor IS Devialet.

That makes it perfect for the customer. Buy some cheap amps and Devialet will look after you.

They aren't selling direct, except for Phantom - at full retail.

Yeah, but it devalues the product and saturates the used market with cheap product. 2 months ago I could have easily sold my d400 for $11000. Would have been a quick sale. Now that price would have to be $9000. I'm not selling so it doesn't matter but I might sell someday.

Seems like a mfg would have a dealer agreement to buy back equipment if relationship terminated.

Looking at Audiogon, I don't see new US product available to speak of; instead a mishmash of foreign, old/odd (an 800 from 2 250's) and used resellers. A couple of users selling, one of whom claims they upgraded w/in Devialet line.

When distributers change the market can easily get trashed. This is what happened a few years back when MBL went from one to another. In the end both "seemed" to dump product on the market and those of us trying to move our used product found it worth very little. Now that MBL has set up their own NA Distribution things have settled but it will take time for everything to normalize.

I was lucky enough to take advantage of the change over and scored a brand new D400 pair at a bargain price.

See...damn it...I count on everyone else paying way more than me. Now I'm just one of many that got a great deal. How am I supposed to maintain my feeling of superiority with that going on!
