1. The guy's well organized with his Blu-ray movie collection. ...I'd say.

2. White is a bright color for watching movies at night! ...Everything's white in his home theater room (living room)!
3. No clue on his A/V Receiver; but looks small to me! ...I like humongous gear! :D
4. No Oppo Blu-ray player! :| ...He's got a PS3, and also a Sony BDP-S780 3D Blu-ray player.
5. Did you see those tiny (lilliputian) speakers! I think I missed them myself! ...And was that a Bose subwoofer, that black thing, inside a shelf under the screen! ...Wooooooo, some's missing in the Sound department! :(
6. His front projector (Optoma HD66 - 3D-Ready DLP) truly needs an upgrade, I think!

* Very nice BD collection :coolyeah: , but the gear (audio/video) is lacking! :weird:

Soooo, give me all the video software, and keep all the hardware. ;) ...And keep the room too, with the white color in it. :sigh:

Ho-leee s#!t. Long-time, occasional lurker and can’t believe this video found its way here - - now I gotta register to defend my honor.

The room is much larger than it appears in the video. We have beautiful sofas and seating in there, but I deliberately kept the camera high in the pan because the video was about the organization of the discs, not inviting everyone in to our living room. The green paint in the room does a great job of sucking up the ambient light despite the furnishings being white. I can get the room pitch black with surprisingly little light reflecting back on the screen. All of that said – it is a living room first and place to watch movies second. Neither I or my wife want to live in a dark, depressing man-cave.

The projector is an Optoma HD33 (not a 65). It is not top of the line by any means, but it is a very affordable 1080p 3D projector and we’re very happy with the performance. The biggest surprise to me was how much I take advantage of its frame interpolation (a feature I never thought I’d use being a 24fps purist), but it comes in handy for 3D when set conservatively, reducing judder in pans.

We did have a 720p HD66 paired with the 3DXL back when the 3D Blu spec was first introduced. That was the only option for home projecting 3D blu at the time. Unfortunately the DMD chip started to fail not long after - we started getting white dots all over our projected image - but by then 1080p 3D PJs had come to market. The HD3300 beats the pants off of the 66 (even out of the box) and with a bit of calibration, the picture is impressive. Even I was surprised at how much of a light cannon the thing is – we’re projecting at 165” and I had goo paint ready to go, but we haven’t used it - the image would be too bright. The HD33 also works with an RF emitter which eliminates the white DLP flash that can wash out the picture, so the 3D performance is very vibrant.

Love Oppo but Sony serves us well.

The sound system in the room is absolutely nothing to write home about (receiver is just a Denon), but we’re apartment dwellers and can only do so much without raising the ire of the neighbors, so my sound system is better placed elsewhere.

I’ve been managing a record label since 1991, so rest assured that when I have listening to do I treat myself right.

Sock drawer video forthcoming! :P

Hi hotandserious, and
----------------
GroupWelcome.gif

I got your video after reading several of your posts from over at Blu-ray.com (where I am very very very active).
And that's where I got the model number of your Optoma video front projector, in your Profile.
Now I see that you upgraded it (but not on your Profile over there).
{I thought that your AV receiver was indeed a Denon one.}

The main thing that attracted me is your movie collection, and your organization of it. ...And I started a thread here just because of that.
- I'm a big time Cinema lover myself, so I can totally relate. ...So is Nelson, and Carlos, and other Shark members here.

Everything else was pure good humor on comments of the moment; and you saw that too exactly that way, cool!

This is great you are here! ...It means you are a very caring person.
Feel comfy here, right at home, because we all care too. :)

Best cheers & regards,
Bob

Welcome to the forum hotandserious!

I have to say you've done a superb job. Thank you so much for joining us. I can only dream of being one tenth as organized. Have fun!

Awesome collection! I could see how it might be hard to find specific titles cause there are so many. I would need some Dewey Decimal System action! :D
