Beware! I want to highlight this news on the Industry Forum to warn fellow Audiophiles. This is a multi-billion Chinese based public company that allegedly advocates the auctioning and sale of counterfeit goods. This includes many well known HiFi brands.

It is now confirmed that Alibaba are coming to Australia and have already established a point of presence in our country. This has serious ramifications for the continued well being of the HiFi industry, domestically and internationally.

I hope that our government and respective overseas governments step up their vigilance with regards to the prohibition and control of dumping and importation of counterfeit goods in their respective regional markets.

We do not want inferior counterfeit goods confusing the unsuspecting consumer and diminishing the value of well established brands that the rest of the world worked hard to establish.

John Motley, director of intellectual property at Columbia Sportswear, said that counterfeits on Alibaba's sites are a major problem. In hundreds of Taobao (Taobao is a Chinese website for online shopping similar to eBay, Amazon ) test purchases made last year, 82% of the products sporting the Columbia brand were actually fakes.

AliExpress is part of the Alibaba Group of companies. If you believe Mr Ma's sincerity on 60 minutes then it is time for you to draw your own conclusions by searching for your favourite brands on each of these respective websites.

Do not be fooled by the agenda. It does not appear to be a two way trading street given the anecdotal evidence.

FYI the IP blocks allocated to the Alibaba Group have been blocked by our corporate network because of incestuous hacking attempts originating from those addresses. I would not be surprised if other companies have realised also by analysing their logs and have decided to block those substantial IP block allocations as well.

IMO, a prelude to a major cyber war funded by the overseas investor keen to tap into the Chinese domestic market. Maybe if you have powdered milk to export....Mark my words, the world will one day cry over spilt milk if nationalistic agendas continue to be disregarded in a global economy.

Controversial? It would appear to be.

:congrats:

Agree completely, however with a correction. The World's citizens will cry, the World's elite will rejoice as they further consolidate power and resources.

^^^ Provided escalation does not result in an armageddon event.
