Never had that problem with cardboard boxes stored in the attic (some for over a decade). There must be something else happening in your attic.

Agree when we had our huge walkin, we never had ANY ISSUES AT ALL, with cardboard falling apart or the wife's Christmas decorations. . IT was more like an extra two rooms up there.

I have to agree. We just purchased a 2 year old home (we just moved from Naples, FL). The former owners had Christmas decorations and boxes in the attic - which they had to remove prior to closing ... But they were in perfect condition, even their plastic fake vines and such.

The attics in N. Florida (around Destin, etc.) easily get to 140 degrees this time of year. We measured it the other day ... Some electricians here don't crawl attics in the summer. I even had a problem locating an electrician to run my new electrical outlets for the stereo. One of the electricians threw up upon existing my attic the other day and said last one until November... This said, the heat didn't seem to bother the boxes and other stuff up there.

I would think that humidity is the box killer vs heat. A damp, cool basement would prob be much worse than a hot, dry attic

OH for sure, we have zip space at the attic entrance , but once you get by all the AC trunk lines it s a playground up there, but I'm not crawling over AC trunk lines to place a box. LOL and you are right getting a electrician up in your attic unless its winter time is pretty much out of the question these days. The AC techs don't seem to have a problem. Go figure.,
