Not sure how much action this will get; AudioShark doesn't strike me, as a haven for DIY types ;)

I've always been curious, to try a speaker build; and now I have a rather unique opportunity...where I have pre-fab cabinets (of a hi-end model), and need to "fill-in" the rest (drivers, cross-over, terminals).

I'm familiar with Madisound, and have no shortage of opinion...about which drivers are "good"; but I definitely have some pointed questions...that will likely be the difference between this being a crappy build, versus something decent.

What's the "best" site to post at? Keeping in mind...I'm a complete newbie, and the nature of the project; DIYAudio seems to be the front-runner...but I almost wonder if it's too "advanced", for this kind of thing.

In other words...they'll run me off the board, for not knowing what the hell I'm doing...lol

Any thoughts?

The best guy to talk to around here is AJ. Hopefully he will chime in.

I believe there is a really good DIYAudio website.

I've heard several DIY builds and always come away shaking my head at just how good these guys make speakers sound for a small sum.

AJ's $2500 speakers floored me. He's not exactly DIY - but he started there. If they were a known brand, they would be selling for $35,000. Just saying...

Good luck. I would love to try something like that myself.

Thanks Mike. That's the site I referenced, as being the "best" I've come across.

I just wonder if it's newbie friendly? Guess there's only one way to find out ;)

diyaudio has tech and engineer smart folks there. I've seen where if you ask for the easy answer without doing any homework you may not get it. Present an idea and they will tell you if it is good or poor.
