Hi Everyone.

I just wanted to hear what your impressions of Munich was!

Since i was in the Raidho/Ansuz/Aavik/Scansonic room i won't comment on that.

Some of those i liked was :

The solution room

Vandersteen

Audio vector.

DISCLAIMER : Working for Ansuz and Aavik.

My Best of Show goes to....

The Goebel room with CH

Also the Vitus room with Goebel was great!

Also Göbel with either Solution or Vitus - you don't even have to go for the largest model for them to excel.

And for most natural sound Avantgarde Trios.

For me - Avantgarde Trio XD best of show overall for sure. They were a real standout and remain my favorite. The Trio XD's along with properly setup MBL 101 xTremes are the best speakers I've ever heard.

Also, Goebel for cone and dome speakers for sure. Either with CH or Vitus. Both were great.

The VAC/VS room sounded very musical too. The Magico room was sounding good and it was always packed which was good to see.

MBL was a bit boomy, but the 101 xTremes rarely disappoint. The new Gauder RC8 was good with AVM. The list goes on.

For standmount - Gryphon Mojo S.

For analog - Kronos Pro with SCPS-1 and new Kronos phonostage.

For digital? Aries Cerat, MSB, DCS, they all sounded good.

There was really so many good rooms, it really could be any number of listings here. So many good rooms. Really impressive.

Mike/etal,

Thanks so much for your coverage of the Munich Hi-Fi show. Clearly, a stunning event. The pictures, video and commentary have been incredible.

Really appreciate you selflessness and dedication.

It is hard enough to navigate a show and see everything especially one this large.
Taking many photos and videos and uploading them is an entirely different proposition. Not to mention all of your commentary and feedback. I don't know how you do it!
One thing that is evident is that your love of and commitment to this hobby is huge.
We are all the beneficiary's of your hard work and quest for all things audio.

The both best performers of the show for me:

- AA Trios XD
- Goebel with Vitus or CH (for optical reasons the smaller Goebels suites me better)

It´s a pitty that I did not meet one of you guys. I had a look Saturday morning in the atrium at 11 am, but I did not find Mike the only one I know from pictures. Next High End, next chance.

And finally sincere thanks to Mike for the incredible coverage. Although I visited the HighEnd (for the first time) I discovered some setups in Mike´s reporting after returning home I had not the chance to see/find/listen in Munich.

I have to agree that also the sound in the VAC/VS room was very good.

I can't comment unfortunately on the AA room as it was impossible to get a seat so we stood right near to the entrance...

We will definitely meet next time. Sorry we missed each other.

Interesting - I have different views to some of the above. I found the Avantgarde very unnatural and forced, although the drummer was highly amusing! I was also v disappointed with the Gauder room using AVM amps - I went in a few times wanting to like the speakers, but were dull and very 2-D. They sounded a bit better on the end of the Audionet amps, but not massively so. I also thought the DCS / D'Agostino / Wilson was painful - overly clinical and lacking any emotion. I also thought the huge Gryphons sounded forced.

Standouts for me were Tidal, Kondo / Kowero, MBL, Hifiman Shangri-La, and Cessaro. Very good were Vitus, Audiovector, Soulution / Rockport, the new Magico S3 MkIIs, PMC Twenty5, Kudos / Naim

It's all good. We all have different views. I think if I posted my "not my cup of tea" thoughts - I would probably piss off half of the people here. [emoji6]

I agree with you on all your standouts. All good sounds too!

+1

I went to Avangarde room having read the positive comments here, but they were playing some modern / electronic music all the time, so it was very difficoult to judge the sound quality, apart from the fact that the speed and dynamics were indeed incredible. The gig with the drummer was a great idea.

The rooms I have kept returning to were Rocport Lyra / Absolare, Kondo / Keiser Kawero, CH / Vivid G1 Spirit, Goebel with Vitus and CH (not completely sold on those speakers though). I have also liked the Brinkman / Vandy room, Luxman / Xavian. The TAD room was solid as usuall.

I went to the Magico room to hear the new S3 mk 2, but I think I will never develop a liking for a Magico / Spectral combo. I like more body and texture to the sound and I know that Magicos can sound like this - only not with Spectral.

A big thank you to Mike and all those who posted show comments and pictures. Are most rooms at Munich larger than rooms at US venues? A lot of the rooms seemed large in the pictures. Is that normal for the show or did the larger systems/rooms just attract more fans?

My top rooms were:

Kondo / Kaiser Kawero
Impeccable preparation and presentation

Marten Coltrane Tenors / Engstrom The Eric / MSB
Big bold sound in a room that played some great music selections

Absolare / Rockport
This was a top room for me with excellent sound on variety of genres

The Beast / Absolare
This room had a sound that was the epitome of "delicate". Breath taking.

Theoretica Bach SP
Fantastic demo of what is possible in the future
3D holographic imaging on demand
