Hi everybody. I have a Sony PS8750, an ortofon cadenza red, just purchased a fosgate phono amp from Steve, petro85, good phone stage, great guy. What would be a substantial cartridge improvement? Cadenza blue? bronze? other brands? how much would I have to spend without the cartridge being too good for the table?

Thanks,
Robert

Bump for Robert ....

Any of the Cadenza's would be nice....

Either the Blue or Bronze would be a nice improvement over the Red......The Bronze has a slight warmish tone through out as with the Blue its warmish tones are one click less compared to the Bronze.....the Blue will present a tad more detail (not bright), I think both are great cartridge and it really boils down to the direction you like to go in sound wise.

The Sony ps 8750 is a nice table. there is quite a following for SONY tables, especially the transcription tables and the bio-tracer models...For a MM Cart, the arm is a perfect match with an AT440MLa - Audio-Technica AT-440MLa,Audio-Technica AT 440MLa,Audio-Technica AT440MLa,Audio-Technica AT-440MLa cartridge,Audio-Technica AT 440MLa cartridge,Audio-Technica AT440MLa cartridge,Audio-Technica AT-440MLa phono cartridge,Audio-Technica AT 440MLa phono

For MC cart which your Fosgate seems to handle, the AT OC9/III all the way. I am not an Ortofon fan but I think Jeff's suggestions are top notch also.

so from my side, if you like detail then the OC9 is a great selection. Very nice detailed highs and mids, strong clear bass and wide soundstage.

People answered me! Thanks for the bump Joe! You know, I'm one of the good guys.....thanks Jeff and I don't know you name ohbythebay

Hey Robert !!!!!!! How are you my friend ?? Hope your enjoying the fosgate.
Weird not having it around anymore. Good to see you over here.
On the friendly forum.
Check your email. I sent you one a couple days ago. Not sure if it went to the right place or not. You know you always have an invitation to come hear the blue anytime.
If I ever stop buying stereo equipment I can buy a new engine for the boat and make a day out of it.

Yeah Steve, I got the email. Yes I am enjoying the Fosgate alot. thanks again and thanks for keeping your word. If I'm around LBI I'll write you or call you. Maybe a little less on stereo equipment and you'd have a little more for the for the boat.....? lol, that way you could enjoy the (ortofon) blue or the black...and the blue yonder....you ever want to bring your speakers over to hear what they sound like with solid state just write or call
