Apparently, drinking beer makes you forget what you are doing. Anyway, it appears the stereo survived the night. However, I am not sure if I reached the same level as when the breaker tripped. Which is fine since that was insanely loud. Now I am listening to Vivaldi at 45db on the pre, which is generating a SPL in the high 50s and low 60s range.
The Pass meters were relatively stable last night. I remember they were mostly vertical with only a little movement into the right side. It appears that the bass heavy music at insane levels is what causes the wild swings to the right, and, aside from Lady Gaga, regular classic rock isn't that bass heavy. But it sure sounds good played loud. Lots of slam, as somebody mentioned.
Both lines are sounding good right now. When I first started using both lines last Monday it seemed to sound kind of edgy, but now it appears to have smoothed out. At this point, the amps are plugged directly into the outlet via Shunyata Zitron Python power cables. Before, both were plugged into a Shunyata Cyclops, and the Cyclops into the wall via a Zitron Anaconda. I have another Cyclops and Anaconda on order, but until it arrives I didn't want it to be unbalanced by having one amp on a Cyclop and the other amp directly into the wall.
