Behold the Klipsch Forte III speakers

Resurrection of a very old thread. I wanted to dive into the high efficiency speaker circle and bought a pair of used Forte IV earlier this year. It is amazing how high efficiency changes the way speakers produce dynamics. The Forte IV not only sound great with a 300b SET but with 500wpc SS mono amps. I hear them as "different" and definitely not inferior to traditional loudspeakers.

Welcome to the HE club. Once you experience it, it's tough to go back to 'normal' speakers.

I am sure there is a HE speaker being made that can equal or best the Confidence 50. Anybody want to give me some suggestions to go and hear?

"Better" is very subjective. Some of the best hi fi to memory is Confidence driven by Krell. You can always spend more like Magico or Wilson. Two of my top contenders if budget permit would be Stenheim or Vinberg. Or, if deep pockets bypass Vinberg and go straight to Tidal.

Then again, my personal taste now that I have horns I don't know if I'd be satisfied with atypical speaker. Maybe I'd audition something higher up in JBL's Summit series. People who have never heard don't realize how pristine a compression driver can sound. Pristine while smooth if driven by good electronics. The horns can image well and I don't hear any stereotypical horn shoutiness. Unrivaled dynamics. I wish JBL was marketed as well as Klipsch. If more people heard how much better JBL was Klipsch would shrink in the market. Worth mentioning and a real difference JBL are rated at higher efficiencies but I don't consider them a tube friendly speaker, they need power to sound their best. Maybe another reason they aren't recognized more.

You've never given much info as to how old you C50's are or what you drive them with. No matter what you may have been told Dynaudio need and thrive on current. That's why Krell was perfect. I'd love to hear a set on D'Agostino. Dyn also take nearly forever to break in, that's a fact. I'm sure the C50 is not the absolute best speaker out there but they are high value IMO if driven properly. Imaging can be excellent.

Another high value brand to look at is Legacy and I think they are represented in your state, forget the store.
