Becoming an Audiophile

After the last 40 odd years it's about time that somebody got it essentially correct!!!!!!! It will be a longer time still though before I can call myself an audiophile. That won't happen until the definition is changed back to the original meaning (as mentioned in the beginning of the article) and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

"Sound appreciation and owning a great hi-fi definitely aren't essential to enjoy tunes, but the connection to music can feel stronger when you focus on the sound, the sound the musicians worked on for weeks or months to get just right."

I think I might just add that to my signature...

Great idea! I just stole it.:D Only I shortened it and stopped at ",but".

An article with no ending... I was expecting a second page.

Lackluster at best.

The comment area was amusing, though. So many idiots/haters there.

Great post Rick !!

I just re-wrote my signature to state what I truly believe regarding music based on the article quote. Basically, the gear and the sound will always be second place. The importance will always be the connection with or feeling of the music in one's being which does not require high-end gear or mid-fi or any of those things. It's a spiritual connection if you will, for lack of a better term. The gear doesn't make it any stronger or weaker.

That's one of the reasons I get so angry about Bose or Beats debates. If you're enjoying your music and you're dancing around and thinking "MAN this song is so awesome!!!" Then I don't care what you're listening on. You get it! THAT is what audio is about...
