I almost missed this, Beck/ Morning Phase released last week.

I've always liked the Sea Change recording.. And Morning Phase seems to emanate from a similar mood.

I noticed its available on all media including vinyl and high Rez download. If you are a Beck fan, check it out. :D
 
Thanks Ray. I was just talking with Nick (veindoc) about the new album yesterday. He said the Hi-Res version is really good so I'll be checking into that today.
 
I've got the Sea Change SACD and it is incredible. The MOFI vinyl is even better!

I don't have this new recording yet...I can't wait to give it a try!
 
Is the MOFI vinyl in surround 5.1 like with the SACD? ...'See Change'. ...It is awesome in hi-res surround sound!
...Not only it has the warmth you get from vinyl, but it also has the depth and transparency you can only get from higher-resolution digital. Plus! Not just stereo, but also multichannel.

I absolutely love the Sea Change Album, I've got the Mofi CD version, High Rez, Standard CD.. Actually prefer the Mofi CD Rip.

When I initially heard Morning Phase, I noticed immediately it's lineage to Sea Change, but I wasn't sure how I felt about it....however, within a short time the music dug in and OMG, I love it to the same degree I've always liked Sea Change. I like virtually everything he's done, but Sea Change and now Morning Phase are in a special class for me. Chatter on another site suggests the high-rez download to be deficient....I'd listen to this music over the telephone if It was the only way. :)

Has anyone heard the LP yet? I was waiting for a few reviews before grabbing a copy. Beck is one of my favorite artists. :)

I agree with Bob; it's best to sample each album because they all have their own unique sound. Sea Change and Morning Phase are quite different from his earlier stuff.

I never ceases to amaze me that the Beck that sang "Que Onda Guero"....is the same Beck who sings "Blackbird chain" and the like.

Mike, I agree with finding samples online to listen to before buying. You never really know which Beck you'll be getting from album to album. That said, Mutations is similar to Sea Change. If you feel adventurous try Midnight Vultures or, one of my favs, The Information. Oh, and Modern Guilt is pretty good too.
 
Thanks Doug. Will check them out. At the recommendation of David (Design Audio), I downloaded Marcus Miller's a Silver Rain last night from HDTracks. The album is jamming!

I'll check out the other Beck albums. Thanks.

Morning Phase, when sampled on various streaming services, sounds promising-but far from the "Two turntables and a microphone", "Loser" Billboard Chart topper. Its a perfect morning record, you know, when you just wake up, turn on the audio system and cue up your tracks for the day.. :-)
 
Gentlemen, I received this album in the mail on Tuesday. It hasn't left my CD player since. In my opinion, this one is extremely special. Sea Change was a top ten album for me, and this one may take it's place. If you haven't already done so, get this album NOW!
