I don't watch this sport but news are all over; what's this thing with the Clippers' owner?
...He's surrounded by gorgeous women, and one in particular. She find him attractive, or his money? ...His attitude? ;)

Looks like Magico Johnson is into taking over. ...I don't blame him; she's gorgeous. ;)
 
The owner's a dick, no doubt about it. (And re: the pretty girls - there will always be gold diggers. They might be fun toys, but lets not forget where their values lie.)

But on the subject of hoops, the Blazers / Rockets series is amazingly entertaining. I used to be a big Sonics fan, now that I'm in Portland I have a team to follow again. Three of four games into overtime... 2 very equal teams going at it toe-toe. Go Blazers!
 
Obviously this was a setup; she was paid by someone else to wear a wire.

Way before this happened, things were not properly taken care of. Now someone just want to finish that job, and for the better good of America and the NBA.

Imagine, if he said those things, what kind of relationship he might have with his girlfriend overall! ...And with everyone else, including his ex-wife.
This is America, the land of opportunity, and where everything goes when you're rich! ;)

By the way, Donald Sterling* is worth $2 billions. ...And Vladimir Putin $40 billions! ...Unbelievable!

* What a name! ...Totally inappropriate. ...What a duck! ...And nothing sterling about this duck.
 
I was confused for a moment, the title was "Basketball" but clearly you had another topic in mind.
 
This is basketball Bob; this is big news all over. ...The Clippers' owner. ...Nobody wants to play basketball when racism is rampant, from anywhere.
Some players won't be playing no more, and some fans won't come to the games no more.

What is confusing? My first line was very clear; "What's this thing with the Clippers' owner?" ...Cannot be clearer than that.

Basketball is like jazz music; the best players are in majority the black people. ...Miles Davis, Magic Johnson, John Coltrane, ...and even the best boxers are too; Ali, etc.

In hockey, on the ice, ...it's different.
 
Come on Bob, with a topic like Basketball I dug into the thread. But it is clear you wanted to discuss the vile comments and news about the owner of the Clippers. Perhaps you could have listed NBA-CLIPPERS as the topic. At this time of year, with the playoffs underway, somebody says "basketball" and we think sports, not racist owners.

Players might boycott a little, but their contracts don't have a clause, I expect, that says they can not play ball and still get paid. And, most of those guys are thinking about winning. They've been exposed to racism before, and while this guy is a rat, it surely isn't the first time they've faced a rat. I can assure you, at those contract levels, $$ will speak. If this had happened mid-season, possibly a larger player response, but not during the playoffs.

I did see the NBA banned that guy for life from their exclusive club, and they'll make it hard on him in efforts to get him to sell the team.
 
I started this thread in the 'Sports' section of the forums, and I simply entitled it 'Basketball'.

I thought about it first, and I knew it was in the right section; better than Off Topic.
And then I wanted to be neutral and peaceful by simply title it by the name of the sport directly related to it.
My intention was very innocent, but there are always people who see differently.
Yes, I could have posted in the off topic section and called it 'The devil Donald Sterling'. Then someone else would have complain.
It is impossible to please the entire planet; I do the best that I can, believe me. ...I know a thing or two about it.

I'm not a basketball fan and I mentioned it right from the bat. But I love the sport nonetheless.
And this is a free zone; you can talk about the Clippers of LA if you wish so; I'm not the one who is going to stop you, I'm simply not that anal and slaved to my own 'demise', vise-gripped into one specific aspect of a topic.

- This is major news in this sport at this present, and it affects a lot of people, and I mean a LOT!

And no matter the setup (girlfriend), what that guy said recently and did in the past is totally unacceptable in America and in this whole World.
And this, is the subject of this thread because he is the Clipper's owner, a big shot; and according to him he is feeding and dressing and housing and driving a basketball team from Los Angeles, and under the NBA's umbrella.
...Like the players are slave under his ruling and ownership!

There are ethics to follow, and for the greatest respect of this sport, and its players. Donald Sterling is the type of person that we just don't need in this society. He thinks he is some type of god because of his money, and that he can boss black people around like this. Well, I don't think so; not under my watch and certainly not under the watch of all decent people living in America.

With this now out of the way, if this thread's title is not appropriate somehow I'm sure Mike can take care of it.
And you are totally free to discuss the games as just games, without any infraction, without any divert, without any bull, without any racism, without any negativity of real life, just the positive aspects of the sport; Basketball.
 
Wow, banned for life (Donald Sterling)! ...Cannot ever assist to another basketball game!
...$2.5 millions fine is nothing to him, but the banning is going to rip his heart apart!

Next step; all the other owners reuniting in order of forcing him to sell the Clippers. ...Or not; that remains to be seen.

* Right now my thoughts and my heart goes to all the victims of Tornado Alley in the USA.
