Yes 20 version on the left.

Did you ever post your system pic ? Love to see it :)

System - FMA 268 + 223 + 1811 and WDT prototypes of The Processor 256 v3 - preamp/phonostage/adc/dac/digital recorder with 16TB memory, WDT The Mono Amps v2 - 200 watt class A 8 ohms Transconductance design, Custom Full-range bass/midrange + a tweeter and WHT speakers, Technics SP-10 Mk3 in a 100kg+ custom plinth with Thales Simplicity 2 and Axiom tonearms.

They may look the same once they are back in the case but the 20s sure sound better. At lest mine do. Thanks for the pic .

Much as others have said much quieter more space around players bigger and deeper sound stage. When you consider the KXR and MXR were very good to start with at the time I bought the MXR and KXR there was nothing in this area anyway that sounded as good for the money. The upgrade is not cheap but a big step up in sound. How do the new MXR20 and KXR20 stand against a pre and amp in that price range I do not know as I was not buying new. Ayre in general is good value for sound and quality IMO. But their is no way I can try them all I just heard them with my speakers and it worked for me. I think Ayre is fair on pricing as they seem to have a plan as to cost plus mark up. Not the we got a good review put the price up 10 grand . I have had no break downs I also upgraded my little used DX5. Replaced the Ayre phono with a Burmester 100 it did not seem like Ayre was all that into a R class phono build. The Ayre phono is good to very good but not great. The Burmester is great to wow.

Also

Do they get as warm as the older MX-Rs?

Ayre could tell you for sure The KXR20 seems a little cooler the The MXR 20 about the same but I did not put a thermometer on any of them. I leave mine on 24/7 as the guys at Ayre said to. I have 3 to 4 inches above the amp to the next self any more space than that and the cats would sleep on them they love heat. I have never had a over heating problem any shut downs were electrical storms. In a bad thunder storm I have had the pre turn off and the amps go to stand by. This is very good gear all in all. For this kind of money it should be and Ayre seems to get that IMO.

Looks like there are 4 fuses on the 20 boards.
Has anyone replaced them with an audiophile fuse?
