Recently my Ayre AX-7e integrated amplifier seems to have gone on the fritz. It shows that it is in standby mode but will not turn on (either by pressing the power button on the unit or on the remote) and no volume setting is indicated. It's no longer under warranty. Any thoughts before I send it back to Ayre for repair? Thanks, Chris

No idea Chris, but I'm hearing some not great stories about Ayre's QC lately. I believe Bruce (BruceLet) had a new Ayre piece and it gave him all kinds of trouble as well.

Unfortunately this is my second piece of Ayre kit to go on the fritz. The first was my QB9 DAC, but the timing on that was good since I had it converted to a QB9 DSD at the same time. It took a while to get it back (6 weeks) but that was due to the incredible demand they had for the new DSD DAC at the time (it had just come out). Fortunately, I live near Boulder so I can hopefully just drop it off for repair - we'll see. Chris

I have always found Ayre good to deal with and fair . Mike first I have heard of any QC problems. The only thing I have heard lately is with the price increase and the Canadian dollar at a low Ayre is a little pricey right now in Canada. My MXR20 KXR20 would have a list price around 70,000 for the pair. Thats a lot of coin for most of us. Or me anyway mine have given me no grief so far. Lighting storms have kicked them to stand by a few times but hit the switch and away they go. I have never had a QB9 so that I can not speak to that. Ayre looks good sounds good and does not take up a lot of room that way you have more room for records.
