Ayon

Fellows, it would help old geezers like me if you would stick with standard English, or define your terms. For example in this thread I saw

"pimped out"
"whored"
"bling"

I may be able to guess the meaning, but it doesn't normally apply to amps or speakers.

Thanks, Larry (closing in on 70)

Larry, if the young-uns are interested then you probably aren't anyway...... ;)

Perhaps there's an inverse relationship between ads and number of dealers?

You have to love the look of those output tubes! Talk about a '30s scientific lab Frankenstein type look. Think Thrax uses the same OT too.

I own a pair of the Titan mono amps. They use the Ayon 62B output tube. The amps are wonderful. They replaced VAC mono amps and the Titans are well worth it.
Very nice gear.

Ayon gear. I remember hearing it at RMAF and found it a little noisy. But seriously, has anyone else seen a more pimped out brand?

The Ayon amps I own are dead quiet and I think they are gorgeous.

I know Peter B. really liked the sound of the amps. Not cheap though at what ~$65k or so for the monoblocks? Amps didn't sound too bad on the Scaenas mid and top end at Axpona. Would be interesting to see his thoughts in light of what he's heard since.

I live in Montreal and purchased a pair of Ayon Titan amps. I don't know anything about the Scaena speakers, but with the Magico Q7, it is a live performance.

I had Ayon on my radar a while back but was advised they had reliability issues by the importer & a few dealers so never went there.

The importer told you they had reliability issues, really? I happen to know Charlie Harrison personally. He was in Montreal at a local dealer show and he loves the Ayon product.
The dealer I bought my amps from has been a dealer for 7 years and he told me that Ayon has been the most reliable brand he sells. This is one of the reasons I purchased my Titans.

Hey Steve, welcome to the pool. Know a few Charlies myself but down here in Oz we don't gravitate around the states ;) ;)

Just before Christmas I've replaced my 2-YO Ayon CD 1sc for brand new 1sx :-D

Yes, I was at Axpona in the Ayon Scaena room. I thought to was the best the Scaena's sounded at any show, with the Ayon's.

At CES John Atkinson wrote about the Scaena's
-AMR Amps, "The sound in this room was impressively clean and neutral, with precise imaging. But playing my recording of pianist Hyperion Knight performing orchestral arrangements of the Gershwin Preludes for piano, I was puzzled not to hear as much hall ambience as I was expecting."
I agree.
