After following the guidance in Jim Smith's Get Better Sound book and DVD my system has been transformed! I'm really happy with what I've now got but have been trying to buy another pair of the Sub225 units for each channel - I think Jim demo'd that configuration.

My question is whether a pair of REL subs (T9i or S5) or any other would integrate well. I don't want to move my seating or loudspeaker position so any advice on placement, e.g. to the side or behind the Duo's, would really help.

Hi - welcome to AS. Where are your 225's now and where would you be putting the new subs?

Have you considered a pair of Avantgarde 231's (the new 225) and then use your 225's at the back of the room (if possible)? When I set up my clients Trio XD's, we used the new 231's for the mains and his spare set of 225's at the back of the room to augment the bass. Frankly, it sounded best with just the new 231's.

Thanks Mike that is a very good idea as I hadn't realised I could purchase the 231's. I am in the UK and when I enquired I was told it was best to trade in my G1's.

I really like my G1's and have moved the treble horn to align with the mid driver - another Jim Smith idea:)

I have the 225 units in the standar position with the frame holding the 225 and horns in place. If I got external subs such as REL then I would probably have them behind the Duo's or possibly at each side (outside).

I would check with your dealer on the 231's. They are miles better than the 225 as they integrate the XD technology into them.
