I have to disagree about your comments on the Lumin, I've gone the other route and a good streamer is the superior way to go. There is more to digital audio than the DAC itself, and streamers are much better sounding IMHO.
I've got both the Lumin and Aurender, I think the fact that I never play the Lumin speaks for itself. Dac aside, I'm curious as to why you would think that streaming is superior to playing from locally stored files? The end result is that in both instances, the files end up in a solid state buffer storage facility before entering the d/a section. With a streamer, there is a lot more in the chain of events before it gets to the buffer however, that's the only difference I can see. And so in my opinion and understanding, streaming is inferior. But interested to hear more about streaming if you think it's the better way to go.
Also wondering if you've actually heard an Aurender or if you're just making a supposition...
