Aurender Owners

^^ Yeah...my dealer has had me waiting with baited breath; saying late this week, early next week as well :cryforjoy:

Yup; my dealer just confirmed, they are within the continental 48 :)

I told him no need to rush moreso, than to have it to me for the weekend!

The N100's arrived this morning. Here is a quick snapshot of the N100 alongside the Exogal Comet DAC:

These will be on demonstration at the AXPONA show here in late April.

I see my Hegel HD12, sitting on top nicely :audiophile:

Not to dethread, but how is the Hegel HD12... Im looking for a new DAC (always, lol) and have read a great review of it. Im anti Sabre, as I feel most implementations have a similar sound signature and am looking for a more musical choice.

I like it; but then again, I'm a Sabre fan...lol (my incumbent DAC, being the Oppo HA-1; which I'll probably move to a cans-only set-up).

I've tried many a DAC, but not in the stratosphere of some here. Never heard Lampi, Weiss, dCS, Meitner/EMM, and the like; but the best all-around, "musical"...I'm picking one, to live with DAC I ever owned...is the PSAudio mkII.

I've read nothing but GREAT things about the DS; only somewhat negative take, was Mike's...and I think even he is softening to acknowledge it's a great unit. Just he prefers the sound of his all-in-one Lumin.

Now that I'm USB-only, I hope to give the Ayre QB-9 a try too.

I stand corrected, as I have learned the optional internal 1TB SSD for the N100 is SATA, not mSATA, and it is OK for owners to install it themselves without voiding the warranty, although if one is not fully comfortable doing so the dealer should be able to provide and install the drive at minimal markup.

w00T! Me am so smart! U-S-A, U-S-A :celebrate008_2::P

N100, is in da hizzie! Give me a day or two, to reserve judgment...and see if I can easily work through some of the initial kinks.

Then I'll post a report...and some sexy pics.

Am I correct to understand that we need a WIRED ethernet connection to use any Aurender ?

So, if I do not have any Wired ethernet (only Wifi) in my listening room, how can I use the Aurender ???

Yes, a wired connection is required. Get a wifi range extender.

That begs the question "why the x100s over the n100?" Only SQ benefit would make the x100s worth buying? The big question is do they (x & n) sound exactly the same?

Really would like to know the answer to this.

Brian...I am waiting for Aurender support, to get back to me about a couple of "buggy" things; that I don't wish to post here just yet. I think it's only fair, to reserve judgment, until I find out if a) the issue can be easily remedied and/or b) it's more a matter of my intuition, versus actual functionality of the player/app (in other words...is it my fault, lol )

But I was wondering, if you might be able to comment on one "issue". I tried a Hegel HD12 DAC, at the same time; and there appears to be an issue with the two, and playing DSD. Not the fault of the Aurender...and really not of the Hegel either; just a compatibility thing (that I was actually concerned, might happen).

To play DSD...the HD12 needs a driver installed. It doesn't appear, as if the Aurender picks it up...because when I play DSD through the combo; all I get is white noise. I know it's not file or set-up; because luckily, things work fine with my incumbent Oppo HA-1.

Do you know, if there's any way...to like FTP to the Aurender, and install a needed driver like this? Thanks for any help.

No such thing as a driver on the Aurender, to my knowledge. The Aurender is a black box, a toaster that just works. No ftp, no root login. If the Hegel requires a driver for a Mac, that would be odd, and I haven't seen anything requiring a driver on a Linux system. Does Hegel support DoP? Ask your dealer to work it out.

How easy to use is the TIDAL interface ? Good integration ?

I can comment on this; as most of my listening, thus far (for some of the reasons I've mentioned)...has been streaming TIDAL.

The integration is very good. It's a little twitchy still; but that stability will come, with firmware maturity. The TIDAL integration is easy, intuitive, and feature-rich!

is tidal integrated to the point that a playlist can include a mix of local files and music files streamed from Tidal ?

Hi friends

i just updated my w20 to 4.3.64 and found that both USB ports fail to detect my thumb drives. Any similar experiences? Have sent a request to their support but they are celebrating their Korean new year now.
:sigh:
