Aurender N100H Review

I think it should be a package deal! [emoji106]

We need a ClearAudio Double Matrix Group Buy!!! (Inside joke)

Inside Joke? Skip it - YAWN. Make it official. ClearAudio Double Matrix SONIC Group Buy!!!!!!!!!! Show Mike some love. He needs one too! :)

In the review, Chris mentions a corrupt file, and suggests that it could possibly be from his use of uncompressed FLAC files. Is anyone here using uncompressed FLAC files, and have they experienced this issue?

"Yeah, you have to sort of read between the lines. He didn't go ga-ga over it. My take is that he didn't find it anything special."

If he didn't find anything special, then he needs to go back to spinning vinyl. Aurender is stupid good.

Love the pic of the Limited edition Kronos Mike. Looks great in B&W.

And yes the best table on the planet. I love mine.

I guess this a little off topic, sorry.

Back to Aurender, awesome wonderful product and my current biggest seller.

Here are a couple of off topic pics..

Too bad there is zero comparisons for competing units (CAPS v4 server, Sonore Rednu etc). It takes a lot of value from this review.

It seems the more advertising CA gets, the less comparisons the reviews contain.

+1

I don't find his reviews of much use....

I have been using the Aurender N100H for two weeks now. At last I've got it set up with 1.1 TB of music onboard. I've installed a mix of ALAC, AAC and FLAC files of various high resolutions. Previously, I owned a Simaudio MOON MiND 180 - a device that I sold on three weeks ago. I can tell you that, except for the efficient manner in which they both pass signals on to my DAC, there is little comparison between the two devices.

One expects that in terms of audio quality, devices at these price points will perform with aplomb and both the MOON and the Aurender deliver in that department. However, where one separates the wheat from the chaff is in relation to the ease of use of the APP. In this regard, the Aurender app is so far superior to the MOON app that, to compare them is to compare chalk and cheese. I won't catalogue the range of difficulties that I had with the MOON app, a utility that seems to be an afterthought in the minds of folk at Simaudio. Crashes were regular events, clicking the back button always took me where I did not want to be, the list is long. On the other hand, in two weeks, I have experienced one crash with the Aurender app and any difficulties that I had with setup really came down to being because of my haste rather than there being a problem with the Aurender or the app.

On a critical note, I do wish that the Aurender Media Manager - a useful database building program, was integrated with Gracenote so that missing album art could be filled in. I've noticed that the app seems to be updated almost every two months - here hoping that my request gets through to the developers. Another criticism that I have of the device is just how complicated it can be just to turn the damned machine on and off. One slip and the Aurender ends up rebuilding its database - a not too lengthy but worrying process.

All in all, I love the machine and would not go back to Simaudio if you gave it to me free of charge.

Congrats Biggarthomas! The Aurender is a great player. I have the N100H and N10 and both are miles ahead of any Mac/PC/Joe Blow's modified super duper pooper scooper PC.

The Aurender is a real piece of audiophile kit.

Congratulations, and yes, there is no going back. As for turning the unit on and off, the left button on the front panel can be used for that if you don't care to go through the settings menu.

Regarding missing cover art, there are software solutions for that. I have a system with that feature among several others, to provide complete turnkey solutions for customers, included with their purchases. No need for the customer to have to do the work unless he wants to, in which case I'm happy to point him in the right direction.

So if I want a spdif output other than USB, I have to go up to N10? Hmm...the price difference between N100/H and N10 is quite significant. Any chance Aurender release a product in N100/H range with a spdif output in the near future?
I'm also wondering how the sound quality of N100/H compared to..let's say, Bryston BDP-1/2? I understand the ease of use part, app's interface, etc., but sound quality still comes first. I have tried Lumin A1 and absolutely love the app, but I preferred BDP-1 + my DAC although Bryston app is a lot less desirable (if you can call that thing an app in this day and age...sorry James).

Couldn't agree more! :audiophile:

Been using the Aurender N100H for a few weeks now also. LOVE it! A joy to look at and use. Sound is superb.

But, I do have this same gripe about turning it off. Why do I have to go to settings and scroll down. It's like 3 clicks and a scroll to get the unit into standby. They need to put a standby button on the main screen. Other than that, no gripes. Setup time was like 10 minutes. By far the best experience I've had with computer audio to date. Superb product.

I bought the DBPoweramp. My metadata is a complete mess, so I want to scan, correct and add art to 26,000 files in batch- all at once. Anyone figured out how to do this?

I don't see how you can use dbpoweramp to batch correct all the metadata. It may pick up cover art if the files are all named folder.jpg, but I am not sure about that.

DBpoweramp is good for batch processing file conversion.

He might be referring to "Perfect Tunes", a product by the dbPowerAmp guys.
