Aurender N10 Caching Music Server review

So glad you´re enjoying the N10! Great review which only adds to my desire for the product. You and Mike should make a movie "The Aurenders" about a secret society of music loving individuals fighting CLOC (Compressed Lossy Organized Crime) or you could be The Men From A.U.N.C.L.E. (Aurender United Network Command for Lossless Enforcement) :P looking forward to more impressions if you should notice further changes in the sound and thank you.

Dan - the folks at Aurender loved your review and were thoroughly impressed with your incredible system. :congrats:

Mike.......I am very pleased to hear this news. I do my best to tell it like I see and hear it. With a component like the Aurender N10 it is a walk in the park to write a review like this one. It checked all my boxes. Owning the amazing N10 music server would not have happened without your encouragement. Aurender is fortunate to have Suncoast Audio as part of their sales network. I couldn't be happier.

I just read your review again jdandy and I must say Aurender is fortunate to have customers like you, as are we to have you writing your opinions here, I personally look for reviews such as yours if I intend to make a purchase, I find them much more valuable and legitimate than those found in most audio magazines.

Narayan.......Very kind, thank you. I have written 50 or more equipment reviews, some on gear I have purchased and some on gear provided for review purposes. In all circumstances I focused my efforts on giving an honest user's opinion of these components. I try to present my opinions in an interesting first person presentation so that a reader can get a sense of what I am experiencing as an audition progresses. It pleases me to no end to receive positive feedback from readers who find my reviews worthwhile, entertaining, and perhaps even educational. I have even received positive comments from several manufacturers who read my reviews of their gear. Most of all, I enjoy being able to contribute useful information to those individuals who may be considering a particular audio component purchase and are searching for firsthand user information they can trust.

A fantastic review and thank you for sharing. Your set up looks truly amazing.

Womaz........Thank you very much. My studio is my sanctuary. Listening to music on a great system brings me much pleasure and peace of mind. The Aurender N10 has definitely added to my satisfaction. I am enjoying the N10 as I type this post. Break-in time now stands at 250 hours. It is sounding so sweet.

I almost came to tears when you mentioned the possibility of being subject of a placebo effect, at one point of your very comprehensive review.
As far as I remember, this is is the very first time I find such grade of honesty from an audio gear reviewer, believe it or not.
No need to say yours is an high-end quality review.
Thanks for it.

Ventura_Rodriguez_Vallejo.......
Thank you for sharing that experience. It is not uncommon to want to hear a difference so much that you create the difference in your mind. I don't want my comments in a review to be perceived as exaggeration so I try to explain my real thoughts. In this case, that is exactly how I felt at the moment. If I can't clearly identify similarities or differences in what I am hearing then perhaps it is my imagination. I am not above admitting that. I appreciate you noticing and commenting on it.

Dan's review edited at Dan's request. Last part of fourth paragraph from the end.

"Both outputs sound exceptional. The N10 had no issues synchronizing with the Esoteric’s USB normal (NOR), USB high speed (HS_1), and USB asynchronous (HS_2) setting."

Mike.......Thank you for the edit.

Aurender support stated that the N10 was compatible with Esoteric's USB high speed HS_2 setting so I tried the Esoteric USB asynchronous (HS_2) setting this afternoon and sure enough it synchronized to the Aurender N10 without issue. I am not sure what my problem was during the audition when I first tried the HS_2 setting. I think perhaps I did not wait long enough for the N10 to sync with the K-03. During the silence after selecting the Esoteric's HS_2 setting I made the assumption it wasn't going to play with that setting. I should have waited a little longer. Today I selected HS_2 and waited. It took approximately four seconds to sync and then music played without issue, so everything is fine. The Aurender N10 playing through the Esoteric K-03's USB asynchronous HS_2 setting sounded open, dynamic, and clear as a bell. What a fabulous music server the N10 is. Break-in hours now total 271.

The Aurender N10 is sounding so captivating and smooth as silk. Tidal is quite impressive as well. The N10 draws me deep into the performance every single time.

Break-in now equals 321 hours.

The N10 now has 342 hours of break-in. I swear it seems even more transparent by the day. When music is playing I have no thoughts of equipment, only the music. That is a very good sign. I am so happy the Aurender N10 music server is in the studio system. Once I experienced its sound, beauty, and ease of use I was hooked like the catch of the day. There is absolutely no going back.

I downloaded the Aurender Conductor app for Android on my Galaxy S7. It is available at the Google Play Store for free. Even though it is a beta version the app works perfectly. It found my N10 immediately, asked me to type in a registration number that appeared on my N10's display, and once done the app connected via WiFi for full control of the music server. The Aurender Conductor app for Android displays cover art, albums, artists, playlists, and queue. It also provides access to the N10's Settings menu, folders, and playback controls. I displays full screen cover art of the file being played. The app is as seamless as the iPad version. What the beta version does not provide at this time is control of Tidal streaming. I assume this feature will be added in future app updates. The Aurender Conductor app for Android is slick, providing an alternate control platform for those without an iPad.

My Aurender N10 now has 416 hours of break-in. The sound is sublime and intoxicating.

Dan, you're going to get fat . No need to leave your chair all day, if Marlene prepares the midday meal for you... ;)

I wish Aurender put out an iphone app, but it is not out yet.

Ern dog.......It is surprising to hear the Aurender Conductor app for the iPad hasn't been tailored for the iPhone, especially since the Android app works perfectly on my Galaxy S7. I wonder, have you tried downloading the Aurender Conductor app from iTunes to your iPhone?

Thanks Dan for the information.
Now I found 3 good reasons why I should NOT buy the Aurender N10 (even though I itch like hell to get one).

1. No reason and story to get one
2. No iPhone App
3. No Christmas gift

Seriously, I am so happy for you. I can imagine what the W20 would be. But for me, the N10 will be the end all IF to replace the Meridian C15.

By the way, do you need to import cover art each time you rip a CD? Or its just automatic the cover art (right one I suppose) would appear? This is one answer that do influences my decision to purchase. I look forward to your advise on this.

Enjoy Dan.
