“Mike, why don’t you carry Auralic?”

“I don’t have a good gut feeling about that company. Everything is always in development and half ass baked.”

Meanwhile this morning….

Thankfully people didn't pre-pay tens of thousands of dollars for one only to still be waiting 1.5 years later with no ETA on when their order will ship.

The high end market is difficult. Far too many brands for a niche market. Hardly nobody wants to spend over then 5k for a streamer and they acquire a Wiim instead.

I had one of their bottom line streamers way back. It used their “Lightning” app. It was a PITA, I managed to sell it.

Looks good, sounds OK, but overpriced for sound. And always pitching the next thing before the current one is out the door.

The wages in the USA are much higher then in Europe, and here people spend alot on speakers, and the other parts, are midrange/budget. For many they cannot afford spending 100k euro on a setup, and if they can, the wife has an opinion about that.

Understand your point, when you pay high end you want the best and if not other brands will take the market.

Guess I must've been asleep because I only remember hearing positive things about Auralic. Might have gone for the Aries at one point if they had offered it in a silver finish.

This is crushing news. I am happily in the LUMIN family, but I have long considered Auralic and Aurender to be the two closest competitors in the same general server/streamer/digital source neighborhood. Opinions and experiences vary, but these are the two that I have been keeping an eye on over the years (in addition to LUMIN).

The original Aries was by many accounts quite a revolutionary product. I also remember multiple versions of the Vega garnering very positive reviews. The new Aquila X-3 was looking like a promising product to me as well.

Having no personal ownership experience with Auralic products, I can't opine about the half-baked part. But I certainly don't doubt Mike's experiences and insight.

One thing's for sure: If I woke up one morning to find out that LUMIN was ceasing operations and/or that Peter Lie had disappeared from this and the other forums, I would be devastated. My heart goes out to all Auralic owners.

I don't think you have anything to worry about with respect to Lumin. I'm listening to my system right now with my Lumn P1. My P1 functions as my streamer, DAC, and preamp, and quite honestly and accurately, it is one of of the best-engineered and best-sounding audio products I have ever used or heard. I mean that with all accuracy and sincerity. (y)

I should add that when I installed my P1 into my system as my streamer, DAC and preamp, I took 15 pieces of gear out of the main rack of my system. Yes...15. One of the things I learned working as a Design for Six Sigma Master Black Belt working in industry, is that...the simplest way you can mediate a "transfer function" (e.g., y=fx,) the better. The Lumin P1 lets me do this better than any single component I have ever used in my system.

Could not be happier or more fulfilled using my Lumin products, IMHO, Lumin has got it it....GOIN' ON. Plus, Peter Lie of Lumin provides absolutely superb customer support. Honestly, one of the best audio companies I have ever dealt with. (y)

Love my Lumin X-1 - incredible device that never stops to surprise me with its sound capabilities.
With Audionet, Zensati cables and VIVID G3S2 - a match made in heaven! 😍 ❤️

That pretty much mirrors my experience with LUMIN - My T2 and D2 don't give me fits. They just work! And Peter's support here and on other forums is world-class, like you said. Just one example - he personally helped me when I had a confusing issue with my home network - taking considerable time and considerable effort in back-and-forth communication to help me get the issues sorted out. (Even though not issues with the LUMIN itself.) Thank you Peter, for always looking out for the customer!
