Dear All,

I'm planning to audition the recently released AudioQuest Niagara 7000 Power Conditioner soon. Personally I like do the Shunyata stuff, but am nevertheless not closing my eyes to new ideas either.

The product was demoed by Garth Powell at Munich High End in May, accompanied by a 60-minute presentation and should now become available.

Hence my question, especially to the gentlemen with a broader exposure to the market, has anyone heard/ tested it yet?

Cheers,
Kuoppis

Kuoppis, please do report back on your findings and your upcoming audition of the Niagara 7000 Power Conditioner. I am most curious.

Kuoppis, have you been able to demo the AudioQuest Niagra 7000 Power Conditioner? If so, what are your impressions?

Hi Odyssey, yes and no. I did have a opportunity to listen to a system with a Niagara in it, but it was a system I am not very familiar with. Further, there was no opportunity to A/B compare to e.g. Shunyata or Audience. Hence, no conclusive statement possible.

The System I listened to was a Hegel H360 amp with B&W 8002 D3, a Soolos system and Nordost cables. It sounded a tad bright and harsch to my ears, but I guess that could have been the Hegel/ B&Ws/ Nordost as well.

I believe this is the unit that was reviewed in the current issue of Stereophile. A pretty good review.

Yes, that's the one. And there was also a comparison with Shunyata.

I guess what Michael Fremer said, was that there was a slight difference, not like night and day, with the Shunyata Triton sounding a tad darker vs. a slightly top focussed presentation of the Niagara. And preference depended on material.

This was also in a very high end system, the Marten Coltranes only costing south of fifty grand.

What I am hearing in terms of opinions in Europe is that the industry seems to have a new contender. The Niagara is more dear than a Triton, but adding cables or a typhon puts them on par. Anyway, good for the industry, good for audiophiles.

Oh, my. The price is $8,000. Amazon listing.

I use a Furman P-2400IT that was recommended to me by a recording engineer in LA. I paid via eBay under $1500 bucks with blessed manufacture warranty.

Hi Mike, I only had the opportunity to hear it in a retailer setup I was not very familiar with. Yes, the sound was good, but I am not able to provide any deeper analysis, as I could not conduct a home auditioning or do a 1-to-1 comparison against the Triton.

Long story short, I went the safe route and got myself a Triton with a Shunyata HC power cord and am happy with it. It replaced the Shunyata EU7 with Venom HC.

Thanks for sharing. I got a link to the 1 hour video end of last year, which is what triggered my interest.

Personally I will however wait and see what the broader market feedback is, as I am in principle covered on that end.
