Audionet Humboldt integrated

I was just starting to like your soft side ..!

Access Denied

A Bit windy , short internet lay lay grammar uncorrected version , its when the output stage is under sized for the task so you lose gain drive and output current as load impedance lowers , this is obvious on this amp hence the massive drop off in power below 8 ohms.

PS the link is good ...!

Dear a.wayne, too many errors for me to comment on. I’m terribly sorry.

You may want to consider a tutor.

That guy is harmless, that’s why I didn’t bother to comment. But basically, the insinuations are complete bollocks.

Back to the facts:
- 400.000 microfarad capacitance
- double mono layout with a total of 1900 VA transformers
- damping factor of 1.800 at 10 kHz and 10.000 at 100 Hz

That’s more power on tap than most hi-end separates.

Ignorantly proud now are we , the biggest difference in audio today vs 4 decades ago , Is how much it has moved from being a fun hobby, to full on cult ...!

The Specs from Audionet clearly implies its an 8 ohm only amp as it heavily current limit into 4ohm and below , of course this is only a problem if your loudspeakers represents a lower Zmin than 8 ohms which most do . Mostly this implies you choose your speakers carefully has nothing to do about who is liking the sound , its technicality vs preference ..

Halcro is another which comes to mind , excellent build but really an 8 ohm load amplifier for best sonics ..

Carry on ... :)

Dear a.wayne, have you ever come across the term ultra-high frequency amplifier?

With more careful study of the specs you posted, you might have noticed that the frequency response of 0-700 000 Hz is quite unusual.

Getting the concept might in turn allow development of a basic understanding of a design not focusing on class A and doubling the power from 8 to 4 to 2 ohms impedance, as the benefits those are achieved through other means. Also, have a look at the damping factor again, and you might understand the foolishness of your statements.

There always are the Heisenbergs with 1000W per channel… [emoji3]

yes! i wonder if there will be a scientist stereo amp in the future.

btw miika, how is the impression with the humboldt now after a few weeks. did you notice further benefits from break in?
if i remember right you do have a kharma speaker coming in. any new from that side? i hope they are going to match well.

I noticed an improvement in the soundstage after a couple of months, with the amp kind of opening up.

Regarding the speakers, that will take some time due to custom color.

How about yourself, have you replaced the Tune Tots?

no, you cant replace tunetots. best speaker in the world as for desktop application.
mine are setup to perfection by the millimeter over many monthes and will only be replaced when a new version will come out in 2 or 3 years.
the synergy with the humboldt is amazing.

scientist series, nordost odin and wilson= THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE !!! :)

Kharma ....!

Difficult load , why rush , you still have 575 hrs, 45 mins and 33 seconds left for break in .. :)

Regards

well yes, it will be interesting how well they pair.
i had the humboldt with the sabrinaX and power wasnt enough for high volume.
just as it was described in the review, double bass will fail and things fall apart.
however, this happen with most amps and usually much earlier at lower volume.
when things match each other, humboldt has a worldclass bass. an extraordinary good bass.
the other things he described (enhanced texture, fullsounding), nope, thats a question of cabling and tweaking. at this level you take your time if you want it to your liking

Yes if speaker load (Zmin ) stays above 8 ohm i can believe it will be good , reminds me alot of Halcro , given a bad rap because most tried to drive large lowZ speakers with them , at 8 ohm it was a world class Amp ...!

I’m currently running the Humboldt with Sabrina X’s I have on loan, and can’t really relate to your comment. I’ve tried the Humboldt on probably 50% power at the max to test the volume, but that was too loud for listening.

I would guess you probably have a source volume control somewhere in the system you’re not aware of (PC, DAC etc.) which is limiting the output volume.

You are powering the Tune Tot’s with the Heisenbergs?

wow, cool....very interesting. how do you like it?
hey, everybody loved the humboldt / sabrinaX pairing. it was playing beautiful. nothing to complain.
it has power to pop the drivers, no doubt.

sabrinaX with heisenberg will play completely unstressed even at very high volume in a very big room.

The Sabrina X’s go well with the Humboldt, nice pairing. I was surprised how good the tweeters are.

Would love to hear your Heisenbergs at some point. Maybe a road trip to Switzerland?

Which speakers are you using with the Heisenbergs?

no, never tried that. i d like to but tunetots are in the office and i dont touch them.
heisenbergs are to much of hassle to move.

sorry, got to go and write more later on
