ASR BASIS EXCLUSIVE PHONOSTAGE - , with battery psu
Is anyone running one of these Phono Amps? If so what settings do you use for which cart?Im running a CLEARAUDIO - Da Vinci v2 and playing with a few settings.

Have you inquired with Schaefer? He is really nice and very responsive.
I dont know a Schaefer? As I traded it from the owner who only had it for a month Im just waiting for the local dealer to get back with recomended setting for the Da Vinci v2 cart.I have tried a few settings with guess work but nothing which has made me %100 happy.

The Basis Exclusive is one of the best phono-amp's and should be able to produce impressive sound with your cartridge. Friedrich Schaefer is designer and boss of ASR Audio. He is real nice and normally answers queries within hours. I guess you can send to [email protected].

Thanks for the heads up Charles.Took 4 hours for a reply and has put me on the right track.:congrats:

I finally have the settings to best match my cart.300ohm.It is sounding very nice ,clean with wide soundstage. I have an itch to try a Vitus Audio RP-101 or the Pass Labs XP 25.

Hey Stump, you beat me to it. Was going to suggest try matching the cartridge impedance, just did the same today & life is full of good sounds at the mo.

Hi Stump, nice looking and sounding front-end. I found the ASR Basis Exclusive excellent in the bass region and have exceedingly quiet/dark background. What is that Vitus on the rack?

Thanks Charles and Kev
While I was playing with the settings of the ASR I had it sitting on my centre speaker. This was causing some kind of feedback causing loud floor noise very noticeable between tracks.I put it on the rack and moved the centre speaker and its now silent between tracks and sounding very sweet.I will give it a few weeks then move on the Clearaudio Balanced phono as the ASR is a nice upgrade. The Vitus 025 is the amp Im using which has great bass control.

On a mission Stump.....

Satisfying an audiophile is "Mission Impossible " I picked up the ASR for a trade of some surplus equipment .It was less then 4 weeks old and the owner didn't like the look..There is some nice used equipment selling on SNA this year which is a affordable way to upgrade my system.

Just tap on the Spec page of the Vaf I-66s web page.I have got to know the owner (Phillip) over the years and when he buys the speaker parts he has them altered to his own specs which in turn give there speakers there own Sound Signature.Best part of buying local is when I had the tec come out with some subs to integrate into my system they sent out Simon who was the one who designed the I-66s.Cant get better then that!!!!!

Specifications - Signature i66 - Signature - Loudspeakers - VAF Research

That's a great phono stage. I think it's going to grow on you. Try it with an xlr terminated tone arm cable if you can.

I have played a wide range of music now and very happy with the result.I am running Furutech Silver Arrows-12 phono cable XLR and Furutech Reference III Audio XLR cable.
