ARC Ref 250's on Revel Studio2's ? ....

Ok I'm listening to Santana Abraxas Mofi and I swear I'm in the concert, I had Mcintosh a 60th anniversary system and I thought it was decent but ARC takes me to the artist in such a realistic way that gives me Goosebumps. This is what ARC Reference does for you.

I know what you mean!!! It's like the musicians have gathered in my room for a private concert.

Mark,

The REF250 work very well with the Salon 2s in my system. Knowing that the Salon 2s are power hungry, I was concerned that the REF 250s wouldn't be able to drive them properly. I spoke to David Gordon at ARC and he said it would work fine and he is right.

I recently picked up the ARC CD 9 as well.

You can't go wrong with REF5SE, REF CD9 and REF 250s driving the Salon 2.

Hi Rich - that combo must sound terrific! I have to ask - how did you ever come up with that combination?

For me, the REF250's breathed such new life into the Studio 2's - I thought they were literally different speakers. I wasn't expecting what I got lets just say and it was painful (in more ways than one) to have to carry the 250's back upstairs.

The Revels respond in spades the better the gear you put with them. That's not always the case with speakers.

Rich - you should see if you can borrow a pair of ARC DS450M's or even a ARC DS 450 and biamp them for fun. Put the 450 on the bottom and the 250's on the mid/highs.

Not that the 250's were lacking in bass - but just for fun....

Mike.

Rich,

Thanks for your comments. I have been thinking about upgrading from my ARC DS450 driving my Salon 2s. I always thought the Ref250 would not have adequate power. This is great news!

It's funny, I seem to remember Mike having a little trouble running Salon2's with MC2301's. Hmmmmm. I wonder if the problem was the speakers, the amps or Mike :)

I'm telling you - those Salon 2's (which I bought used) were not right. The bass off the Studio 2's - shakes my room!!!!

Mike, you need to try the Clarus Aqua or Crimson cables on your system. I have the Aqua on demo with my system, 10hrs into them the mid's and highs
on the Salon's really come to life

Thanks Kevin! I did think that the sp cables could be improved!

Agree, right out of the box the bass is lacking, starting to come in slowly . the Straight Wire Crescendo II 's are more natural awesome bass clean mid's and high's .
but the mid's and highs are nowhere near what the Aqua's are producing .

What speaker cables would tame a really bright speaker? (Asking for a friend).
