ARC, D'Agostino and Wilson - Whats the Cable shortlist?

While I embark on a random walk of self discovery for new SC and IC cables, it is always a great idea to have a plan. I would be keen to capture some input from other users experiences on ARC, D'Agostino and Wilson pairings with cables.

Just so this doesn't get out of control (I hope) I am not looking to spent $100k on cables.

I am seeking cables that are matched to the level of my system, happy for them to provide a slightly matching but not over the top.

Audio Research REF6 | Dan D'Agostino Momentum S250 | Wilson Audio Alexia v1

I was thinking of limiting it to 3-4 types of SC/ICs to do a in-home test with. So far I was thinking:

1. Transparent Ref G5 (XL and above is too expensive)
2. Nordost Valhalla 2 (Odin is too expensive)
3. Shunyata Sigma?

Thoughts? inputs? recommendations?

Nick - I would suggest either the Transparent or Shunyata families.

I have read that Wilsons are wired internally with Transparent. Also, the D'Agostino amps are shipped with Transparent.

I have been using Shunyata PCs and SCs for at least 7 years. They work great with ARC and have done an outstanding job in my system - VPI, Zesto, DAG, Lumin, Esoteric and Wilson. For ICs I have been using Kimber Select for the last couple of years with great results.

Thx!

Thanks Ritmo.

Anyone have a recommendation for a 4th?

Siltech. Will help smooth out the top end.

Like RITMO, the best I've ever heard Wilson's is with Shunyata. Much prefer over Transparent myself.

My interconnect cable shortlist for unbalanced & balanced, analog & digital and also data cables includes:
Belden, Canare, Mogami and Blue Jeans Cable.
It takes a major bulk cable manufacture to make a good interconnect cable.
* * * * * * * * * * * * *
I should note that the best boutique cables are custom built in a major bulk cable manufacture factory.

Siltech seem to have quite a few versions. Can you recommend a sweet spot based on my system level?

We've been using Kubala-Sosna on D'Agostino+ARC for a while, but we haven't tried them on Wilsons (yet). The power cords are the most bang-for-the-buck of the lot.

cheers,

My system cables are all Siltech. I agree with Mike. A great choice. I am using their mid level 550i. Anything from there on up should work beautifully.

Room treatment will get you much further than cables.

Nick, looks like WW cables in the photo you provided of the temporary listening room. At least they appear to be WW. Didn't you buy a pair of Gold Eclipse 7 SC?

I guess it's safe to assume you do not like the pairing of WW cables with your gear?

Maybe wait until you get your dedicated room ready before jumping ship?

easy there, you trying to put common sense into the equation ... LOL !

on serious note you're 100% correct given the OP's picture he provided, but then I suspect his permanent room will be optimized.

Thanks Bruce. What's your system?

I am using a Lampizator DAC. I have two preamps: An ARC REF6 and a Macintosh C1100. My amp is a Pass Labs 350.8 and my speakers are Revel Salon2s. All Siltech 550i cables.

Which Shunyata SC are you using?

Correct. I have a Vicoustic specialist coming in to fit the room out with treatments.
