I noticed your last pics making me research a couple of things.
Prolly end up costing me some money, so I may have to quit looking when you post!:D JK!
I was eyeing your Variac in your last pics.

Is that a Walkman cassette player on the shelf?
I haven't seen on of those in years.

Thanks, I guess I keep everyone looking..LOL. took me a long time to amass my collection. That is a variac, I use in my repairs. The Walkman is a Panasonic recorder unit for cassettes. I have the original Walkman by Sony too. It is an addiction...LOL. And the room is a mess...LOL.

I had one of those in the 70s, and loved its sound. I remember buying a "better" Yamaha turntable and wondering why the AR seemed to sound better. Since the Yamaha cost more it should sound better. Anyway, that was my logic at the time. Live and learn.

Since the AR is completely manual you must pick the arm up from the end of the record. One night I fell asleep listening to a Canned Heat record, and the arm was stuck in the final cut on the record. I woke up and all I heard was Boogie being repeated over and over. Boogie was a signature word with Canned Heat, and they recorded it into the final track on their record.

Great story. That's what I am afraid of myself.

I have the same problem, not a great fan of full manual tt's. And I own a few...LOL. Out of the bunch, I like the AR-XA the most. When serviced and maintained, it sounds as good or Better than the "Higher" priced models..IMO.

Thanks ,
John.

I love your pics John. I can just imagine you hunkered down in your bomb shelter deep in the Arizona desert spinning vinyl! :D

I dig that Marantz receiver too. :)
