Is anyone going to get one?

My only interest is if it is a superior to the fitbit line of athletic smart wearable gear.

Anyone use fitbit or any of the other smart athletic gear?

I don't have any plans to get one, at least not immediately. The only smart athletic gear I have is my brain. Today it told me that after busting my butt in the gym on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I need to take Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off, and drink some beer on Friday and Saturday night. :)

I'll be pre-ordering a 42MM Space Gray Aluminum iWatch Sport on 4/10//15.

That sounds awesome, the beer that is. I have not had sugars/alcohol/cake/pasta/deserts in... gosh, can't remember how long it has been. I am ketogenic [ketogeneiss] fat burning. Just had my body fat tested a few weeks ago at 6.2%. I'm serious [big time OCD] regarding fitness.

So, my wonder is if this iWatch or Apple Watch will be of any value. And yeah, I agree. Use the brain but I kinda dig using the heart rate monitoring feature and some of the other functions too.

You are a bit more OCD than I am. Beer is my weekend treat for not having artifical sugars, cake, pasta, desert, etc. during the week, and hitting the gym.

I wish Apple would come out with the long rumored Apple TV. I bet a 72" OLED TV integrated with an iPad/iPhone/iWatch would be awesome. I would be on that in no time.

I still have my Timex watch that plugs into the Apple ][. That'll do me. :D

Personally, I don't think the gold version is going to rock the gold spot price at all.

It is.

Just buy any 72" OLED TV and a $69. Apple TV (they just lowered the price).

Uh-oh. Bud + alcohol + Friday nights = kaboom!

Sorry to disappoint you mep, but tonight is poker night. I won't be able to enjoy the stereo until Saturday morning. :)

I just heard your stereo system breathe a sigh of relief. :D

I want one, but not for the time telling feature, for all the biometric tracking. It's going to be a good tool for exercise. I have been through all the Polar and Garmin Heart Rate Monitor/Exercise watches and they work for a little while and then break. I am sure the Apple Watch is going to break too, but at least it will integrate with my phone which none of the others will do.

So has the Apple Watch been a hit or a failure for Apple . I have bought all things Apple but not the Watch. I dropped Blackberry a few years ago never had much luck with Blackberry pads.

According to a Aug 28 article Apple sold 3.6 mi Watches in the 2nd qtr of 2015 , but the estimate was 40m. Apple sold in that same time frame 61 million iPhones.

So, how do you like it?

I've had one for 2 days now. Exercised with it this morning and really like the features it provides for workouts. Calorie counting on cardio exercise is substantially lower on the watch than the actual machines but it's supposed to get a little more accurate over time. Text messaging and email features work well. I was concerned about reading the face without reading glasses but it hasn't been a problem so far.

I got stainless steel watch with a leather band for daily use and the sport band to use while exercising.

Overall I'm very happy with it. Better looking than I expected.

Note: this is not a review but reflecting some of my casual experiences.

I have had my Apple Watch for some months now and do not use it as a traditional watch replacement as I had believed I would. Initially I thought it would be a more efficient go to resource rather than using my iPhone.

First, I was curious if it would safe too to use while driving. I went to a vacant parking lot to determine if using an Apple Watch would be a safe alternative from the not so legal use of a mobile phone 'in hand' in the car while driving. I found that I diverted too much of my attention from the road to manage the watch. In my state it is not illegal to use the Apple Watch but in my case, I treat the watch in the same as my iPhone or any mobile phone. Keep my hands on the steering wheel and eyes forward.

Second, more often than not, I was jumping back and forth between my iPhone 6 Plus and the Apple Watch. When I thought about it...I was now really carrying multiple devices because Apple Watch has too many limitations at this time. Sigh...I would just go back to the iPhone (or the watch would tell me to do so) to do what it is that I want to do with more ease and can not do on the Apple Watch.

Third, I exclusively use it only for my daily work outs and then put the watch back into charging mode. In the gym it is convenient to use the Apple watch for quick text messaging and monitoring my work outs. I am still not convinced that it out-performs and is any more accurate than my Fitbit. In fact, I like the Fitbit more because it is specifically designed for the athlete in mind. I do much prefer the detailed information Fitbit offers when using their software.

Fourth, an already known fact, the battery drains quickly and requires daily charging whereas my Fitbit can hold a charge 7-10 days with 24/7 use.

Fifth, I think the Apple Watch does many things but is not expert 'yet' in one function whereas the Fitbit or other similar devices for now rule. I do expect that the current Apple Watch [I call it BETA] will improve with future editions and software updates.

Sixth, worth noting, I find that the Siri accuracy more accurate than my iPhone and iPads.

Finally - my personal opinion, I do not find that the Apple Watch is nearly as timeless or attractive as my traditional watches that I own. I still get excited when I put one of my Rolex, Cartier, Hublot, TAG or the other fine watches I own. The Apple Watch for me still is like wearing a tiny iPhone on my wrist.
