App debug data

I will be curious if others have issues. I am improved, I think, but still occasional skip and crash. I am trying all sorts of tests to try to get the bottom of this. I have tested Ethernet connection to basement and it is perfect. I have tried bypassing my switch and going straight into U1 with cable and still occasional crash. Next step is to try a thumb drive into USB and see if I still have issues with more local music. I am trying. It’s a kick in the cahones to settle in for music and have a crash every so often.

I upgraded this afternoon, and have been stable since then. This is a record, and I hope we can extend it. :)

Still no crashes. A good sign. However, not displaying new music on the drive still occurs. Anyway, good job fixing the crash, now let’s work on other usability issues.

I am at a total loss for my issue. Brand spanking new U1. Never had a network issue in my house. Very fast 150/150 service. Stream Tidal regularly with zero issues on other devices.

Have had Ethernet connection to main system checked, it’s rock solid.

I have swapped Ethernet cables to see if that’s issue. I have bypassed switch to see if that’s issue.

Have rebooted router. Have updated Lumin app.

I get almost constant skipping now with songs. Worse than when U1 was first set up a few weeks ago. I still occasionally get app crashes but not as frequent as earlier. Still happens though that at least every few hours I will get disconnected to Lumin and have to power U1 off and on to regain connection.

I just now tried putting a thumb drive into USB on U1 to try local music. Skipped out of 4 songs in First 20 minutes of listening.

I am inclined to take my whining off line from this point forward because I believe Lumin to be a reputable company, I have nothing against them (other than I want to listen to music again!), and I know there are scores of fans who love their U1’s and I have zero interest in beating this drum while others are happy. But I have never had an issue like this. Ever. It is constant and i am beyond frustrated!

To clarify, I get regular skipping whether it is Tidal, my NAS, or now a USB direct into U1.

What is wrong here? I am at a total loss.

Justin you may just have a bad board and need to have the unit replaced if it's skipping under all of those conditions.

Please bypass the switch, connect the U1 to the router and do these in the router settings:
- Assign a reserved IP in the DHCP IP allocation for the U1 MAC address
- If possible, set the Ethernet port (the one connected to U1) on the router as 100Mbps instead of 1000Mbps

Please also disconnect the proprietary power cord between U1 and the Lumin power supply, then reconnect it, and make sure it is not loose at either end.

Do you have a multimeter that can measure the voltage output from the Lumin power supply?

You can also seek help from our support staff by e-mail [email protected] but they can't answer your e-mail before 27th as it is public holiday here.

Just had an old bug reappear. I had forgotten about it since it has been a while since I saw it last.

Anyway, the bug is the music stops playing and the app just goes song to song in the playlist. On random it jumps to a song, then jumps, then jumps, then jumps, then jumps, etc.

Have to power cycle to fix it.

Have you reserved an IP Address for the Lumin S1 in your router DHCP server? If not, please do it, then power cycle the Lumin again.

I can do that, but why? The only time the DHCP IP will, possibly, change is if the Lumin were powered off longer than the period the server reserves an IP for a MAC address. Since I was listening to music when the jumping started, there was no IP change.

Thought it was worth following up on my U1 issue here. I had a brand new U1 that had all sorts of issues with songs skipping and the U1 disconnecting / needing to power down.

Turns out the issue was a hardware defect. To Lumin’s credit they helped resolve the issue. After diagnostic testing once they received the unit they identified a hardware fault.

I was banging my head against the wall for the month I had it and tried to troubleshoot it.

Happy to report, have been running flawlessly for over a month since new board installed.

Phew.

Justin - Glad the problem was diagnosed and resolved. Now, enjoy the music!
