OK guys....I'm down to keeping my APC S20's or changing to the Torus AVR20's for sources/preamp and one for each amp. Looking at both units, would you consider the switch to the Torus AVR20's a worthy upgrade or a lateral move and why?

Information on both is here:

Mike, in another thread you stated this:

"A friend of mine tested 13 different conditioners and he swears Audience was the best."

Why not go this route then?

$$$$. Three would cost me near $40,000.

Oh yeah that. Didn't realize you had a budget! :)

I don't know much about either one but if the APC can do to other pieces what it did for your VAC's then I say stick with that one.

I had a AVR 60 BAL about 18 months ago. Built like a tank, looked good and sounded good. I had a problem with transformer hum and after about 6 months decided I didn't want to deal with it any longer. Torus wasn't much help with it either. It was a 60a unit though with a HUGE transformer. Probably wouldn't affect the 20A so much. Gotta believe it's a pretty significant upgrade over APC though I haven't had a APC in many years.

Mike I know this isn't what you asked but I'm all for regenerators now, done the conditioner thing, like juice on demand when I want it.

Which one are you using Kev? Do you use them on your amps? I need something for my amps too. Where they connect is so noisy.

I have had everything except for amps on my APC S15 for years. The only other units I actually A/B'd versus the S15 was the PS Audio units. The S15 was just as good and includes battery back-up. I am sure there are better out there but I have other items I would rather spend my money on.

In the signature buddy. I have the Pure Power + 3000. I have done a direct comparison with a Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One 5SE, less noise, smoother presentation etc. I run everything in my 2 ch system through it & usually I never draw more than 50% of what is available on instant demand.

Signature doesn't show up on iPad app....buddy. :)

Have you tried Flux-50s on the amps? I'm running most of my gear through my PurePower 2000 but not the amps. I added a Flux-50 to each of my XA 160.5s and it cleaned things up nicely. Thanks to Jeff Whitlock for the idea and for supplying the '50s. :)

Howard - I really want regulation and conditioning and UPS. Like Jim said, our APC S15/S20's are really good - especially for the $. Howard - I measured Jeff's (in Bradenton) AC line noise with my Entech and it was off the charts noisy. I loaned him my S15 and he won't give it back!!! He loves it so much. Everything was better he said.

Yeah, I know we have dirty power down here, and as I said I use my PurePower 2000 for all of my sources. But I'm concerned about limiting current to the amps, and I really don't want the equivalent of a TECO substation in my listening room. You might want to try the Flux-50s on your amps while you're sorting this out.
