Anybody going to The SHOW in Newport Calif?

I went last year for the first (and last time) and sadly, it wasn't much fun. It was super boring and food was awful. I was hoping for a better time, but I also didn't know what to expect, so I was really disappointed. Perhaps I had my sights set too high, I don't know. That was just my experience though.

Hi Eric,

Please don't sugar coat it, tell us how you really feel. :)

Ha!

I'm going Sunday when the crowds are, hopefully, sparse and the rooms are better dialed in. The Newport show will have a ton to look/listen to. It's not the fanciest of hotels so expecting good food may be too much. Waiting for the elevators sucks but they have a bar .

Ha!

Just being honest about my own experience there. I wish I had a better time there honestly. I thought it was going to be funner. Maybe I went at the wrong time, opening time Saturday. Perhaps it was the rooms? Perhaps it was too large a crowd for me? Perhaps it was because I went alone? I really can't pin it down. I just recall being really bored. I did meet some nice folks from Emotiva and one other guy selling expensive amps that were amazingly noiseless. He was nice too, not a hard sell type and I recall seeing a room that had all kinds of neat lights (I'm a sucker for that), but that's about it.
Now, I am not in the market for anything except possibly a center channel speaker, but that's already handled when ready. So I just don't see a reason for me to go.

I do remember the elevator and lack of air all too well. I went Saturday, probably a mistake in hind-sight. I made the mistake of eating at one of the trucks.

Triode Wire Labs is very proud to be providing the entire cable loom in the Atrium Room 219 with Volti Audio Speakers and Border Patrol Electronics.

Greg Roberts from Volti is bringing a beautiful set of Rosewood Vittoras, and once again offering free shipping on this set from the show. This is Greg's first West Coast show; Wait until you see & hear these gorgeous speakers!

We'll be using Gary Dew's BorderPatrol S10, with two separate Power Supply Units, delivering, 9wpc in single-ended configuration. This amplifier provides all the midrange warmth and detail you expect from 300B's, but produces incredibly deep, tight, solid bass that you would not normally associate with 300B's. BorderPatrol is also bringing along one of their very special Control Units, and DAC to round out the electronics.

We will have the "Seven Plus", "Ten Plus", and "Twelve Plus" power cables on hand, as well as the "American Speaker Cables", and the newest addition to the TWL lineup, the "Spirit" Interconnects. Special show discounts will be offered with free shipping!

We'll also be using an Pi Audio Group UberBUSS power distribution box... Thanks, Dave from PI !!

Cheers,
Pete

Is anyone going?

I think it's just you and Pete, that's it.
I was thinking about giving it a second shot on Sunday this time, but I have no reason at all to go, besides I can't now anyway because I'm working.

Any early reports? Pictures? Would love to hear how the baby Spatial speakers sounded.

They had those there? I didn't think they would considering their price point. Damn! I was curious to hear them. Still not worth going just for that, but there are and will be no other opportunity to hear them on the west coast. Oh well.

Boy, not a word on how the show was? Anyone?

Yeah, I'm starting to think perhaps the 2 or 3 folks from here that said they were attending, didn't get there after all. Perhaps, they will post later after collecting their thoughts and all that as it's only Monday morning and the show was yesterday (and Friday & Sat) and I think they said they were going Sunday.

I was planning on attending Sunday - I had a pass and lunch voucher waiting - but it wasn't in the cards. An early morning pool party with beverages, sun and company ran into the afternoon. From all accounts that I've seen/read, there was a ton of cool gear but far too few great sounding rooms.
