My Pass Labs X350.8 is arriving next week to be used with my Sonus Faber Il Cremonese. Preamp is going to be a Don Sachs Model 2 (using a Linear Tube Audio M2Z in the interim) and I'm leaning towards the LUMIN S1 as a digital source.

I'm currently using AudioQuest WEL Signature XLR interconnects and AudioQuest Redwood speaker cables. The new preamp is only single ended, so my choices are to use Cardas conversion plugs on the XLRs or maybe look for new cables that would better suit the system. I was looking at the WireWorld Pkatinum Eclipse 7 as a full loom, but have no experience with the brand.

Any suggestions?

Do not worry about using the RCA into the Pass amp. I hate using adapters and feel that I lose a little, subjective or not. Just use great RCA cables and enjoy the combo.

Use Cardas, Siltech, MIT, or similar.

I played with some WW series, down from the Platnum. My best guess in comparing what I heard to AQ series heard, the WW would have more high end energy and possibly more midrange detail but giving up a bit of warmth.

I agree, just use a single ended cable from pre to power. I did notice a slight improvement in my system when I went all balanced, but all my components are balanced. I have a second system where all the components are single ended except the Coda amp, I used single ended cables throughout and it sounds fine. In fact, that Coda amp sounds so good in that system I'm thinking I should bring it back to the main system for another listen to see If something changed or it just has great synergy in that second system :)

There are three different common types of balanced output stages. No single adapter will work for all three types.

I wouldn't be using the balanced outputs, only the single ended. I would need the conversion plugs to be able to use my XLR interconnects as single ended.
