Hi,

Just thought I would stop by and say Hello. I found out about Audioshark from MDP (Mark) when I bought his Revel Salon 2's last spring. I also got to speak with Mike, who had listed them on Audiogon. Mark told me about Audioshark and I have kind of lurked on and off since last May.

The Salon 2's were an upgrade to my Revel Studio 2's which I gave as a gift to my father in law because he loved them so much.

Unlike Mark, I don't see myself going through the merry-go-round of speakers as I absolutely LOVE the Revel sound. I suspect I will still have these and be enjoying them in 20 years...LoL.

I am, however, still going through the amplifier merry go round and have so far had Wyred4Sound (first), Hypex NCore NC400's that I built, a Karan KAI-180, and now Parasound JC1's. I would really like to try some big solid state BAT amps like the VK-600's or VK-655's if I can find a good deal on some. I also have a BAT VK-52SE pre-amp that I absolutely love. Also interested in the big Plinius Class A amps. And now Mark has me wanting to hear the Hegel H30 monster as well.

I guess I call dibs on his when he decides to move on:)

Clint, what a gorgeous room. Having owned Salon 2's and Studio 2's, a big, ballsy tube amp always sounded the best to me. It brought the mids forward and added some body and rich tonality. I had both the ARC REF250's and McIntosh 2301's. The REF250's were my favorite pairing with the Salon 2's.

That being said, I imagine the big JC1's are awesome. Plinius and Pass could also be excellent choices. Krell makes some big class A amps as well. I've seen Krell with Salon 2's quite a bit.

Later today, David Baskin of Design Audio, will be pairing his Salon 2's with the Devialet 200 and engaging the Devialet's SAM for the Salon 2's. I look forward to his impressions.

Hi Clint, you might be waiting a long time to buy my Hegel H30. It's simply the best amp for the Salons, imho. It gives the Revels a much more 3D soundstage, with near perfect tonality.

Glad you're here !!

Thums up for that!
Like you, I am a Salon2's owner and fully understand you.

Clint,

Welcome to AS! Mark is a great guy and friend. I also have owned the Salon 2s - fantastic speakers. I listened to yours at Mark's last year! :celebrate008_2:

Very nice room you have!

Mike's recommendation on the ARC Ref 250s is worth consideration. I would also add to the list the new ARC GS150 - hell of an amp. Also, I really liked the Salon 2s with the Classe M600s - amps Mark was using a while back. Lastly, Mark is really high on the Hegel amp which I'm sure is a nice option as well.

cheers!
