for amplification equipment, what are the long-term care and maintenance procedures that others here follow? ...or do you just wait for problems to arise and then deal with them?

what are the expected problems as an amp ages... capacitors, tube sockets, solder joints, etc. -- what are the common failure points due to age?

just wanted to know what practices others follow as i have almarro amp that i would like to keep for the long term. it is now a little over 6 years old and gets ~2 hours of use ~5 days a week.

thanks!

Most of mine have been solid state, I don't do anything except turn them on/off. When I had tubes I'd check bias occasionally. Six years isn't anything, maybe in 20 to 25 send it in to the factory to have it checked up. I'm sure to give my amps plenty of ventilation and a wipe off.

+1

Yep, a benefit of solid state, just proper air circulation/ventilation and a cleaning

thanks for all the information. i definitely keep the amp well ventilated and clean -- as well as keeping the bias adjusted to the right point.

i was interested in learning at what point internal components start to degrade and/or fail... good to hear 6 years is on the young side for amps.
