Amazon Key

I can hear my dog barking already :)
For pet owners, maybe they could try a lockbox outside the door (on a porch?) that they can access in the same way.

Oh boy! No chance for this cloud based system to be hacked. Yeah, right.

Something else just came to mind. Does this put the delivery person at risk? What happens if savvy thieves figure out they can enter a house while an Amazon delivery person has the door unlock? This could possibly elevate the issue from porch pirate status to assault, armed robbery, or worse. The whole thing strikes me as creating a lot of exposure for nefarious activity.

This line gave me a chuckle: "The new service could represent a shift in how consumers think of Amazon. Not just as the source of packages left on their porch, but as an entity they're comfortable letting into their homes" You betcha, I'm always comfortable allowing strangers, vetted or not, access to my home when I am away.
