you can make a case that the footers that Steve Williams sells get plenty of promo, but certainly no more than happens here. and Steve gets a bit of flack (some from me) for that on WBF, but it's never moderated.

every product on WBF is fair game. 'troll-like' fly by comments get deep sixed.....but that is rare.....and 'form' not 'product' related. i've seen intense criticism of products of advertisers not get moderated when i thought it should be. and the site owners are not dictators at all, there is a good level of back channel communication when there is conflict.

plenty of politics and intrigue on WBF of course, as there are on any intense hobbyist forum. justice is not as blind as it might be.

I really appreciate your perspective. But after my posting re: Florida Expo - VAC/VS room in WBF I was banned. Again, if my posting hasn’t been deleted, search for MJB (that was my alias in WBF).

As I wrote in an earlier posting on this thread, my comment was as follows (not verbatim) “the equipment was impressive but sound was not consistent”.

A few folks disagreed, I don’t have an issue with that since this would be normal and we all have our preferences. Within a couple of days I was banned. I tried reaching to Ron and Steve but never got a response.

If I try to access WBF, I get a message that my IP address has been banned.

I don’t take stuff like this personally. However, it is disappointing that our small high end audio community treats each other like that.

MikeL, you should help out Mike just above. You have a large respectable voice and you are an intelligent person; we all live in a same world trying to make it better. This is us, humans living on Earth.

Or is it a restricted world with only a very narrow tunnel (view)?

Thanks Bob but assistance is not required.

The fact that I was banned for expressing a perspective that was respectful and honest speaks volumes for the owners and administrators of WBF.

Water under bridge. I’ve moved on.

Retirement is great. I have a loving wife, a wonderful family, great friends and excellent health.

If it’s aficionado, yes. that site is nothing but a gimmick to get people to buy the products that Ivan sells. I spoke up a few times talking down on products lines he represented, and my posts were immediately deleted. He’s a con-artist plain and simple. For a while he was claiming to be a Aurender dealer, which he isn’t and never has been. He was buying the gear and reselling it, which voided the warranty. A friend of mine bought one from him and found out the hard way.

I told him to go f**k himself and his shady ways quite some time ago.

There was someone, who I won’t mention, getting gear from him for very cheap or free to write BS reviews on that site to get more sales for him. Esoteric cut him off for bad business practices... and he was one of the few Gradioso dealers in the country.

I’ve met him, I’ve bought from him, and he’s a snake. I’ll never go on that site again.

Ivan flat out told me that someone, who we all know and loved (hint in past tense) was getting gear for free/cheap to post positive reviews.

I know that he sold me his Bryston 28b3’s that he was using, and claimed they were new. I looked at the post of his boxes that he boasted about how great they were after he got them, and then looked at mine.. same serial numbers. I don’t care, because Bryston has a great warranty. Ivan is a plague on the industry.

Reading this thread I deeply regret my 120 dollars paid for AA a few months ago. These methods are horrible.
Will not go there anymore.

Does he charge that much for 12 months now? What do you get for that besides being able to post in the classified?

“New cables” delivered in plastic bags instead of original manufactured packaging. I do recall this once and never bought anything else from the guy.

While there are some very good people on AA, I'm uncomfortable with some of the business practices ...

For a price - which can vary - subscribers receive the owner's so called discount pricing on whatever he sells and claims he's a dealer for. Of course, the more you pre-pay the greater the alleged amount of discount. You also receive permission to enter a monthly drawing for a free record/CD, post in the classifieds, and a few other minor things - like a special badge saying you are a subscriber. WOW a badge!
 
The guy is a crook and true there are some nice people, like everywhere in this world.
But when in the know nice or not nice it is still encouraging a despicable crook.
There are no two ways to put it.

Zip lock bags ... what a joke. Check other threads about cables, it's so easy to see what's going on.
You want me to post links on some of those cable threads? ...Like a generic headphone cable for couple hundred bucks plus! The same fuckin cable is $5 everywhere else! The guy is simply full of shit and will suck the money out of everyone drinking his very bad nasty pandemic koolaid. People like him should be put in jail, period!
 
It's a fake audio site, a malpractice audio business. The prices are fudged, the membership number is fudged. He's selling toilet paper for 100 times the real cost! He's a classic Ferrari crook.
How the hell a company like McIntosh lend its name there!
That doesn't help them in my honest opinion, just the exact opposite.
